Could Alabama hire Hugh Freeze in some capacity?

It remains possible that Alabama could hire Hugh Freeze in some capacity.

Nick Saban, though, didn't want to say much about that during a brief meeting with the media Wednesday afternoon in Mobile.

"I don't really have a comment on that right now," Saban said. "I think Hugh Freeze is a really good coach, so we'll keep evaluating and trying to make our staff as strong as we can make it."

Freeze was in Tuscaloosa recently and met with Saban, per a source, though it's unclear what they discussed.

The former Ole Miss coach has been out of football since resigning in July after, according to reports, a school investigation uncovered calls from Freeze to a number associated with a female escort service.

Freeze will be suspended for two conference games if he's hired as a head coach between now and Nov. 30 as part of penalties the NCAA handed down upon Ole Miss in December. However, Freeze won't have any restrictions and won't have to serve any suspension if he's hired for a role other than head coach.

Freeze and his wife spoke in chapel at Liberty University earlier this week. It would not superise me that he makes a return to college football in some capacity real soon. If CNS hires him, I think it would be as an analyst first before moving him to an on the field position.

Elvis....Crying in the Chapel....

Now I'm happy in the chapel
Where people are of one accord
We gather in the chapel
Just to sing and praise the Lord

Ev'ry sinner looks for something
That will put his heart at ease
There is only one true answer
He must get down on his knees

Meet your neighbor in the chapel
Join with him in tears of joy
You'll know the meaning of contentment
Then you'll be happy with the Lord

Is it just me or are any of you a tad bit apprehensive about Freeze coming on board?

I'm not. The guy made a mistake and paid a heavy price for what he did. He still deserves a second chance. We are living in a different world where everything is instant bc of the internet. 10-15 years ago what people did in private stayed that way for the most part. Today, its instant news.

It isn't one thing. It's not just the repeated escort service on speed dial, it's the constant lying, bible thumping, recruit paying, grandstanding, that went with it. And it's not about forgiveness. It's a lot more about being irreprensibile enough as a leader and assistant coach of young men to now qualify for the job.

I am not trying to be "holier than thou" and I have a plethora of things I would not want aired out for all to see. That being said, it is nothing personal against Hugh. We are dealing with close interaction with teenagers and very early twenty something boys here. I put quite a bit of faith in Saban's decision making and if he is sold on Hugh's new outlook on life then so be it. I just know that if I were an opposing coach I would use this against us in recruiting. Also, second chance or not, this was a long long long pattern shown by Hugh and not something one is easily rehabilitated from.

He will be confined to the booth. Analyst. Maybe walk around at practice. Don't think Saban would allow him to recruit. Heard Bo Davis name come back up as possibly rejoining Bama in some role.
