I will say, there's been whispers for a while that Saban has been looking for a pro team (not necessarily football) to invest in as a minority owner or whatever... Maybe someone got their wires crossed on that.... but him owning a very small portion of an NFL or NHL franchise is not in the same realm of him getting back into coaching...

The man is set up to make a windfall over the next 10 years. Forbes is forecasting him to be the first billionaire coming from the ranks of college football.

The money, behind that investment into a club, is coming from his investment and car franchises. They just bought two BIG mega lots in the Miami area.

In his time at AU they have had six games where the final score was decided by one possession. Out of those six, they've lost four.

Out of those four, two have been to Alabama: in Jordan Hare.

He did say it on SECN (not sure about his podcast where it all apparently originated from)... and I'd need to hear the original context, but it just seems kinda dumb to even mention it to begin with unless he was joking about it. The folks on the set of SECN were pretty clearly joking about it, at least Laura Rutledge was when she brought it up. Finebaum said some shit but I wasn't paying him any attention. Then Greg said he personally didn't believe it himself... I turned it off right after that.

I don’t think it would be in the pros. One of the reasons he left the pros is his enjoyment of player development to move to the next level - personally and professionally. Too many prima donnas in the pros who wouldn’t take his kind of coaching. College is now screwed up with NIL and direct payment.
 
Are all the lesser divisions ( small schools ) contaminated by NLI? I could see him coaching players who still play for the fun of it. Hell, he don't need the head aches of of larger schools and players who only care about the money, for the most part. You know he does not need a large salary.

Made me laugh. 10 years ago that was as true as the day is long: National Letter of Intent issues.

To your question? The "bad effects" we see at the FBS level is magnified on the FCS level. There are some true have and have not's in FCS play.
