🏈 What are your feelings on the National title game?

I think Clemson "blew their wad" against against OSU. They will have very little left in the tank on the 9th.

Our O v/s Their D: Bama's running game is just starting to peak..against a very poor run defense. HWile they are keying on OJ Howard, the ball will got to Ridley and Stewart more.

Our D v/s their O: Our D is an angry "Hateful Bunch." Last year they were just a hateful bunch, and not angry. And they are much faster than last year. More "in-tune to demolish people like De'Shaun Watson. ( which is, by the way Spanish for "The Shuan" Watson.)

This.

Yall are forgetting the X-factor here...

Jeremy Pruitt.

He ain't gone mush-rush.

He gone attack, as has been his m.o. all year.

Mush rush is exactly what we are going to see in this game... to try and keep Watson from scrambling. Problem is I honestly don't think our DBs match up with their receivers in any way whatsoever so if we do that and dont try to rattle Watson he is going to pick that secondary to pieces. If you do get aggressive and go after him hes going to hurt you with his legs. Damned if you do, damned if you dont. I dont think they score 40 but they will put points on the board and I dont think there is much of a chance the offense can hang 40 on them.

And damn. Just damn.

This is just off the cuff here... Go back and watch the second half against Clemson from last year. There's this dude R Evans spying Watson & chasing him down. The QB scrambles just about stopped. This was all about Half Time adjustments that CNS is a master. The last two touchdowns with Clemson was prevent & one broken play. By mid fourth quarter this game was just about in the bag. To Clemson's credit, they didn't quit.

Also, I have said this from the beginning, this defense is different than last years. Faster & more aggressive, of which I think CNS took Watson's threat to heart & told his defense they need to get faster. Pruitt has called plays as such all year long. Ultimately, Watson will make some plays but this defense respects the hell out of him, wants to shut him down (they've been working hard all year to prepare for him too), & he has been far more prone to interceptions this year. I dunno, but this reminds me an awful lot like A&M beat down defensively.

Lastly, I sense this offense has a chip on their shoulders now. Everybody is saying that they cannot keep par with Clemson's Offense, especially with the departure of Kiffin. IMHO, if we just have the same offensive philosophy of Bama's 09 NCG we'll be fine. I seem to remember folks saying we couldn't run on Texas' number one run defense but we did. We just had ball control, no turnovers, pass to set up the run & slowly squeezed them like a nut in a vise. Ultimately, you cannot scheme fatigue & if that keeps Watson on the sideline, then all the merrier.

Roll Tide!

I think Evans is def. the guy to watch in this game and I dont think its any question he will be and HAS to be the spy on Watson. There isn't a linebacker faster than he is and it's not just speed, when he gets there he is going to make a VERY violent collision. He and Reuben are the pieces that I think MAY allow Pruitt to get more aggressive. I think we see a lot of four man lines with Williams and Anderson playing more true defensive end in this game then just about any other game with Allen and Tomlinson rushing from the inside. The question is how much pressure Pruitt wants to bring from backers and DBs. Averett and Minkah have been blitzing more in the last few weeks, I said what I THINK would happen before but hell IDK. Maybe Pruitt does get physical and Evans is the key to Watson not breaking containment. We'll see I guess but there is no question the DBs have to step up.

When we get more aggressive last year and started attacking, we got pressure and sacks. RaShaan Evans, anybody?

Okay ... finally found some optimism (and good commentary in general) in pundit land ... from Cowherd and Klatt of all people ... makes a some good points.

Forward to 2:40 and listen to the end to get to the best commentary.

Which is pretty much spot on with the ongoing commentary in BamaLand. Many"pundits" speak as if we are now heading into the 5th quarter of last season's game, nothing could be further from the truth.

@planomateo , per our earlier discussion and my emphasis on trending performance, Klatt brings up a point I wasn't aware of about Clemson's history of giving up big points a week after great defensive performances.

Forward ahead to 2:30 to get to the meat and pay close attention at 4:45. For the record, I must push back against Klatt overstating our defensive depth entering this game, which as I mentioned in the other thread I linked to is a major concern.
