I think it's important to remember he worked directly under Kirby for five years while at Bama then following him to UGA. A great working relationship shouldn't be overlooked.

No, I get it. Really, its not the end of the world if we don't get him anyway as I am sure we will get someone very capable (loving the hire of the So Miss DC already). Do I want to stick it to these arrogant UGA fans? Oh hell yes.
To that point, I hope it is NEVER made public (officially anyway) that we offer Schumann and he remains at UGA. We will never hear the end of it. So I am happy there has been no "official" fodder unless he accepts.

Yep. More of Smart guy than a Bama guy. I believe when Smart left for Georgia, Schumann was Kirby’s first hire.

I remember right after Alabama won its first title in 2009, Richt tried to hire Kirby Smart, but Smart ultimately declined. Almamaters aren't necessarily the deal breaker in all situations sadly.

The delay in naming someone MIGHT be that Nick is looking in the NFL as well and all these coaches are interviewing everywhere MIGHT be an issue.
Coaches matter for sure but if you take a look at the defensive players on the 2016 and 2017 roster then you see Bama has really fallen off the cliff talent wise. Pete is no Brother Olivers for sure but it is hard to make chicken salad out of chicken shit.
Nick needs some folks that can help him do a better job of talent evalutation and now (not stars but actual on field performance). Just look at those that have left the program these last two years and you see average players with rankings that don't match the player.

Ain't that the schtick with Alabama fans in general though? Got some probably not crazy about Coach's Little Debbie diet for longevity concerns, ha ha.
I am concerned @Scrape&Search1032 would offer a ZJ right off the plane when it lands in Tuscaloosa for Schumann.
True (I'm pretty sure). There is a loyalty factor involved. And just like Saban didn't "let" his guys go without his blessing, Kirby has built enough power and credibility at UGA that he can do much the same at this point. And Kirby does not want him returning to Alabama.

Just saw where Byron Leftwich was fired. If he doesn't get picked up by an NFL team, Bama should look into getting him(whenever BOB is gone).

Agreed. He's got some positives, but way too many negatives to be considered for the job. I'd rather hire Pruitt with the uncertainty of the NCAA investigation, than hire him for the job.Not too crazy about Grantham entering the coaching rehab program...

I hope not. I do not like the guy. Major daddy issues with the way he carries himself on the field.
And schemes. And alignment +assignment issues. And coverage rules and responsibilities.Player development and physicality. All have eroded in the last several years.Leads to all the busts and gashes...IMO....There is some smoke coming out of TB,on the heels of "Firin Byron's" Firin(Just made that up),that Bowles may be really interested in bringing back Coach Monken,and there could be some reciprocation. Now I have no clue where BOB will land nor do I care. But besides getting rid of BOB(And he will NOT be back),getting Monken out of the booth in Athens would be like a 2 for 1 Yard sale....
That's why he makes the big bucks, to stir the pot.
