Saban is handling this right. We want a potent offense that can get us 50... 55 points on daily basis. We want an explosive offense that can be won by either passing or run game. We're hard on that side. I think Sabans want to hire someone on offense first before forcusing on Defense. It's possible he already has DC lined up.. and isn't worried about it.

I like that approach, because offensive schemes, trends, and popularity changes all the time and with the type of athlete being forged at any given time. Defensively it can be complicated and change, but nowhere near how offenses change. Basing our program around a great offense is definitely the right move, but just like our basketball program, you have to have a solid defense when those shots aren't going into the basket. You simply cannot be on all of the time. Look at Georgia against Missouri and Kentucky. The offense was not there, but their defense came and kept them in the game without a doubt. Against Ohio State their defense was shredded, but their offense stepped up and won the game, and was also averaging close to 22 points more per game this year than last year. Offense won them a Natty, but the defense helped when they struggled. I think that's the recipe. Not like the defense struggled all year and offense carried them, because they were still dang good. I say all of that to agree with you that focus on getting the offense settled is of the most importance right now, then figuring out the defense.

Exactly. If we're going to battle against Texas, TCU, Maryland, UCLA, and others.. we better be able to keep up with them... and then when we have to face Arkansas, Georgia, Ohio State, MIchigan, etc.. we should to rely on run game. So to me, Offense is more important. Defense.. we'll get shed time to time, but offense has to keep up if necessary.

I dont' know why i'm saying same thing you said... I've been struggling the last few days.

The OC situation is less muddy in terms of contract stuff, but I do firmly believe he's fishing in a bigger pond for the OC, like you alluded to.

Remind me again how “great” this defense is? NOT ONE CATEGORY in the top 5 nationally. Barely made the top 10 in 2 categories. That’s including our blowout of some inferior teams…
It's not about where we are with Stats... Part is on coaching, part is on players, part is on saban.

My purpose in posting this is that some on here are saying “look at the stats.” Well…the stats aren’t that great…we are NOT a dominant defense…and the eyeball test says we look soft compared to Georgia.

I prefer to measure against the Bama standard that was set by past bama teams but I get your point.

I will ask how did that great D look against Ohio State?
