There may be four people who know what Saban is thinking right now: two of whom are Saban and his wife.

Golding has had offers.

This had me thinking about something I have thought about many times before and always kind of wondered if Saban has true friends. Like guys he talks to on a regular basis about life and such. He seems like a solitary guy when it deals with anything off the field, which isn't much time due to job, so stuff like that has always intrigued me with public figures like him.

A lot of chatter in the last week or so about Golding. One thing for sure, other school's are waiting to see what happens with him, but they're interested. Sark, Kiffin, Lincoln Riley have all reached out to him (or his rep), others too supposedly. Despite his lack of popularity among Bama fans, he would be highly sought after across the CFB landscape. Starting to sound like Kiffin may not wait for any shoe to drop through, even if it costs Ole Miss more money. Doesn't sound like anything is imminent but just something to keep an eye on.
If he can get a USC defense to hold an opponent under 42 points and 450 yards of offense in the Pac 12, he would be a god. :p

They do. It's a Sunday morning breakfast thing... Often mixed with business.

Some dust will start to settle this week after the title game and AFCA (coaching) convention. A good chance that by Friday, Golding's situation will be clearer. If he's out, keep an eye on Jim Leonhard. Barring something unexpected, still expect Sal Sunseri back on the field too.

There was also Coach Bryant’s golf with friends. Remember reading that the rule was “on the first tee, you can hit as many as you want until you get one that you like”. So the 1st fairway looked like a driving range…

I’m like a lot of others when things are not going the way I feel they should let’s fire somebody. I’m in agreement with some, Bama needs to change OC and DC if nothing else for new and fresh faces, new ideas, etc. However, this will not totally solve the problem. I think we all remember what CNS did in his earlier college coaching years before jumping to the NFL and then back to college. IMO one of the reasons he did not stay in the pros was because he didn’t have the advantage, in some instances, of benching and not playing a high profile player making millions. Up until NIL and especially the transfer portal he has always had the advantage over college players. You buy into the PROCESS or you don’t play. Now, as we have seen this year, even with starters, that don’t like the way it use to be they just transfer. Someone said earlier in a comment about a game where the defense gave up a huge amount of yardage Bama just had more TALENT and was able to overcome those problems and win the game That’s probably the blueprint for the future.

@bamanc50

Yeah. Had Sugar Bowl on yesterday and saw a few things...
...freshman receiver catching a TD and standing like a conquering hero to crowd
....tackle out of bounds and bama db ripping the guy's helmet off. Should have been a penalty
....bama guys making receptions and tackles and standing over them ( should have been penalties)
And other crappy shit

Just crap things that nicks bama teams dont act like. Shouldnt act like. They are alabama. Not tennessee ....dont have to act like that...

Ms50+ was watching too...( while folding clothes),...and said..."nick should bench them for acting like that"

Old Man, those days will never return. That is Ovah. The roster shows you the story if you care to review. You do remember a couple years back when the NCAA put the responsibility of trying to control the players on the officials because the F coaches wouldn't (on game days).

These people F up everything they touch, and it is already documented for you.

I noticed that Freddie Kitchens was actually calling the plays for USCe vs Notre Dame in the bowl game for the Chickens. I see he signed on as a analyst but apparently some offensive coach moved on at the end of the regular season. I mention this because Nick tried several times to hire Freddie but the story I read is Freddie doesn't enjoy recruiting at all.

As much as I love Outlaw Josey Wales, I think The Good The Bad and The Ugly is my favorite Clint Eastwood film of all time. Also one of the top 5 movies of all time.

I get it, I do. I'm not a fan of some of the stuff myself. But there's a very fine line between wanting Bama to reinvent the monster machine and MTAQ attitude while also keeping a lid on the tendencies and attitudes which are necessary for such. I think back to Landon Dickerson when he first got here... some fans freaked out because of his antics... "needed to be benched..." Dude ended up being one of the most liked and respected players Bama has had in years. He was setting a tone. And that OL played with that tone and attitude for the next 2 seasons.

I'd like to know who we're looking at also for OC.

It's been pretty quiet. Several names we mentioned a while back in this thread are still being thrown around by more and more people, but that means little if anything IMO. A hire out of left field wouldn't shock me.
