| FTBL đźŹ† College Football Playoffs 🏆: Ohio State wins its 7th national title with a 34-23 win over Notre Dame

Something’s gonna have to change. It’ll be Ohio state and Texas every year if not for a while I’m afraid.
Salary caps will happen. No way are the power brokers going to let the inmates dominate the asylum forever.

When will that happen? Years unfortunately though. Changes happen at the speed of molasses in college football.

TBH though I could care less. What I loved most about college football was the regional and communial nature of the sport...that's been dead for years. To be frank I think the seeds of destruction were planted once national recruiting took off in the 90s and 2000s.

Ultimately, I enjoy talking to you fine people more than anything. And NIL or ESPN can't take that away from me.

CFP championship game officials include 4 Alabamians, 2 former Crimson Tide players

The officiating crew for Monday night’s College Football Playoff National Championship game had a definite Alabama flavor.

Four members of the SEC crew that worked the Ohio State vs. Notre Dame game at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta have ties to the state of Alabama. Two of them even played football for the Crimson Tide.

Head referee Steve Marlowe is a Sylacauga native and an Alabama graduate. He is the “white hat” official in the CFP title game for the first time, having served in the same role during the SEC championship game on Dec. 7 and the Penn State-Boise State quarterfinal game in the Fiesta Bowl on Dec. 31.

Umpire Brent Sowell played on the offensive line at Alabama from 1982-85 under coaches Paul “Bear” Bryant and Ray Perkins. A Florida native, Sowell spent three seasons in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Field judge Phillip Davenport is a lifelong resident of Jasper. He is a graduate of Wallace State Community College.

Former Alabama quarterback David Smith is serving as the alternate official, which means he won’t see the field unless one of the other officials is injured or becomes ill. Smith was the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback in 1987 and 1988 under coach Bill Curry.

The full officiating crew for Notre Dame-Ohio State:

Referee: Steve Marlowe

Umpire: Brent Sowell

Center judge: Jason McArthur

Head linesman: Chad Green

Line judge: Jeremiah Harris

Side judge: Justin Larrew

Field judge: Phillip Davenport

Back judge: Keith Parham

Alternate: David Smith

Replay official: John Allmond
Steve Marlowe is on the Board of Education here in Sylacauga. I know him and his entire family quite well. I taught both of his kids as well.

Something wonderful happened last night… Notre Dame did not win a national championship…
Something absolutely horrible happened last night.. Ohio State won a national championship..
Yep.... and still ND hasnt won a nc since 80s. Great streak.
Osu went 10 years without.

Texas been a bunch. They all hungry. The ND coach seems pretty classy guy.

We gotta get back in to these games. ... see how KD can get usthere.

I would expect Texas to drop millions either this year or next on a roster to take them to the championship game. We'll really need to adjust. This hurts the sport even worse, this reeks of baseball vibes the best paid team almost always wins. I'm not a fan of it, but it's the nature of the beast now.

I honestly didn't watch 1 second of the game last night, I'm not a fan of either team so I was not interested in whoever won. Wanted to just get quality time in with the family instead so I can't comment on the game but I hope football takes note and makes adjustments before it gets too far out of hand.

I hope the Goobermint steps in and fixes NIL… The universities should only be allowed to pay each and every player, the exact same money… the exact $$ same for every position..The rest of the money can come from an agent or player seeking outside endorsements…Schools should not be allowed to discriminate or “play favorites”..

So maybe it wont and trend will stop...i know....not likely

I saw this somewhere that Texas is the fare west a team has won the NCG since 2005. USC is the last one fare then Texas that was 2004.

@Rsedge72 beat me to it.

How could you possibly want the government to fix anything?
Why would you not allow people to be paid their worth? Pay based on performance is the opposite of socialism.
You put forth that the government conspires against you in every other facet of your life.
They're probably part of a conspiracy to destroy college football because it discriminates on ability.
Or because they move teams hundreds of miles or more each week, along with 5.5 million fans, and it's destroying our environment.
