| FTBL đźŹ† College Football Playoffs 🏆: Ohio State wins its 7th national title with a 34-23 win over Notre Dame

ND played in the ACC in football just for 2020 due to COVID, after that, they went back to being an Independent in football. They do play 5 teams in the ACC during the season though. Not sure but I don't believe the ACC sets their schedule to which 5 teams.
Thanks! That I didn't know!

The first time ND had to split football money with anyone, I believe. (I'd love to see the differences, over all, between that one conference pay out and other years when ND football didn't make a NYD bowl.

The ACC does set ND's football schedule. This season we saw a 'back-to-back with Clemson. The other four rotated from '23 to '24. They've played Clemson (2X,) UNC, 'Cuse, 'Ville, Duke, NC State...and I'm missing one here.

I looked a few weeks ago at next season: A little weird by itself as they open with Miami and close with four ACC In a row. They pull A&M and UArk next season as well.

(Notre Dame vs Arkansas, week four of the season in Fayetteville? That looks like a fun Saturday! Coincidentally...Bama is off that week and Bama vs the 'Backs is taking the year off as well.)

The Irish won't lose tonight's game in the tunnel before the coin is even tossed like the last time they were in this position (against Bama when their players were scared [and scarred] by the Bama roster filling past them and taking the field in Miami), but IMO they will lose it on the field. Ohio State just has too much talent. I'd imagine the Irish will take some punches and get back up, but barring maybe an early injury to Will Howard, their path to victory seems really slim.

CFP championship game officials include 4 Alabamians, 2 former Crimson Tide players

The officiating crew for Monday night’s College Football Playoff National Championship game had a definite Alabama flavor.

Four members of the SEC crew that worked the Ohio State vs. Notre Dame game at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta have ties to the state of Alabama. Two of them even played football for the Crimson Tide.

Head referee Steve Marlowe is a Sylacauga native and an Alabama graduate. He is the “white hat” official in the CFP title game for the first time, having served in the same role during the SEC championship game on Dec. 7 and the Penn State-Boise State quarterfinal game in the Fiesta Bowl on Dec. 31.

Umpire Brent Sowell played on the offensive line at Alabama from 1982-85 under coaches Paul “Bear” Bryant and Ray Perkins. A Florida native, Sowell spent three seasons in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Field judge Phillip Davenport is a lifelong resident of Jasper. He is a graduate of Wallace State Community College.

Former Alabama quarterback David Smith is serving as the alternate official, which means he won’t see the field unless one of the other officials is injured or becomes ill. Smith was the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback in 1987 and 1988 under coach Bill Curry.

The full officiating crew for Notre Dame-Ohio State:

Referee: Steve Marlowe

Umpire: Brent Sowell

Center judge: Jason McArthur

Head linesman: Chad Green

Line judge: Jeremiah Harris

Side judge: Justin Larrew

Field judge: Phillip Davenport

Back judge: Keith Parham

Alternate: David Smith

Replay official: John Allmond

Well this was a waste of time.

At least Caleb Downs got stiff armed in a hateful way.

$20 mill will get ya all the players. I’m afraid we, Bama, are gonna be on the outside looking in for the foreseeable future in terms of nil.

This game is proving the ones that have the most NIL money wins.
Well duh. I don’t know how anyone thought anything different would be the case. We have opened Pandora’s box and now she will never be put back in. It’s hilarious and sad at the same time that the ncaa fought against the rich running over people for years and it’s been completely torn away in less than 60 mins in this game. Not defending the ncaa, they suck. But the entire point was to make a fair playing field for everyone to have a shot. That’s not the case anymore.

Maybe they'll institute salary caps next...

This is one of the most boring games I can recall watching. No fireworks, no big defensive plays, nothing really offensive other than a Judkins run. Waste of time to be honest.
