For some reason the newsbot didn't post it to the forum. I published it hours ago.
A Look Back at Week 2

The North Texas game played out exactly as predicted. While the Trickle Down prediction missed the NT score slightly (prediction 53-3), the overall outcome was as expected. While there is some discussion as to the benefit of playing in such a lop-sided contest, having the second and third team players get such a large amount of playing time could prove invaluable down the stretch. Now on to week 4.

Just wanted to let you know that these breakdowns are incredibly helpful for us outsiders that are keeping tabs on Bama from afar. Thanks BigFan. :)

Thanks UTE. I hate that I was so late getting it out this week. Last year against Arkansas I actually put it on on Sunday I think...the game was easy to predict.

This year I had more statistical issues with the razorpiggies. I had to tear up half of what I had written last night after the South Carolina upset of Ole Miss and it took me 5 hours to re-write today as I poured over Arkansas recruiting and depth charts, and looked at USC/UGA/Ark stats over and over.

You bring up something, and I don't think we talked about it on the phone this week, that has baffled me this season.

The Arkansas RB troupe arrived in 2009 with a lot of hype. Some proclaimed Michael Smith to be the best back in the SEC. Thus far, the running game hasn’t produced. Against UGA, Arkansas gained just 77 yards on 24 carries.

Setting allegiance aside, I thought at the beginning of this season that the two top RB's in the SEC were found at LSU and in Fayetteville in Michael Smith.

I still wonder why they haven't used him more. With his talent, and only having just over 100 yards on the season so far?!?!?!

Makes no sense to me. None.

Good stuff again Darren!!

I enjoyed the read.

63 points in scenerio B? Man I hope so! BTW how's the match up on Julio? ESPN kept repeating "no TDs in past 11 games for JJ" on the bottom screen during Thurs' nites game. I beleive the man is DUE!

I saw this too, and this is the kind of ESPN crap that annoys me. They wouldn't want to post a "positive" stat, just find something negative directed at a single player and throw it up there. What's the point of saying that - it isn't like he hasn't played in the last 11 games or caught any passes. Just another example of how everything you hear on ESPN isn't the gospel by any chance.

Just my two coppers.

I'm not 100% on this, but Smith came out of the MS game after a few carries and the talk was he got hurt. He didn't play much against UGA and I have to conclude he's been nursing an injury.

No matter...None of the other backs have stepped up and I point to the offensive line problems. Oden will be stepping in today in place of Dominguez who has struggled at right tackle. Not real excited about a guy getting his first start at Alabama.

Hmm.

A good friend of mine owns an Arkansas forum. I've been talking with those guys for years...and, these past three weeks I haven't seen any mention of Michael being hurt.

I may be off on that one. I don't have anything to go by other than what I saw.

But I'm not off on the offensive line. They have had big-time struggles getting a push in short yardage situations.
