In the hours after Alabama's 35-31 last-second loss to Clemson in the College Football Playoff championship game, many Crimson Tide players wound down in many different ways. Of those who took to Twitter, the prevailing sentiment was "we'll be back" for the underclassmen and "thanks for the memories" for the departing players.

Another reason as to why I love my alma mater so much. These young men represent our school and our team with class. I know occasionally we have a few go astray, but this is more the norm.

Players put in all the work (academics and athletics), have to deal with the highs and lows of winning and losing, put it out for everyone to see on the big screen, and then have to deal with the media/fans whether it be the good or the bad. And they do this at a very young age.

Proud as hell of the team, there were many a question marks going into the season. It's a team sport, one person didn't lose the game.

I'm not a fan of fans who get all negative about the team. They have no idea what went into getting this far and having it slip away.

An incredible journey this year, but ending it with a loss is like running the marathon 25.9 miles and stopping and going home. I would not have wanted to be our team last night.

Once upon a time a runner trained to qualify for the Olympic Trials in the marathon. On pace for most of the qualifying race, coastal winds increased to almost 30 mph for the last six miles, costing that runner the time needed to qualify. He was forced to wait for another cycle and by that time life had gotten in the way. We never know when the last chance will be. My thoughts are with the team today. They are hurting more than most of us will ever know.

The bright side is this: it's only a game. Many things in life mean so much more.

Roll Tide!!! We're proud of you!!!
