There's a yellow and black spider. It gets about 2" ... not body, but legs. They grow the most intricate webs.

Looks scary as hell. Halloween stuff. I've seen webs around here that were yards apart. I don't mess with them.

I don't like spiders. But, those webs, in the morning with the dew...the damn spider is high.

These two bad girls, and one more of equal size I smushed before I thought to photograph, were under an old boat I was taking for scrap. Few things curdle my blood like that hourglass.

It never fails. When I see one of those I have to stop and stare for a minute.

4 years ago my neighbor asked me if I’d been seeing any black widows. Told him no. Apparently he’d seen several in his garage (which isn’t messy). He had the exterminator come out and take care of it. The next year, I saw my first one in the back yard by the pool. Within a few weeks, I’d killed about 6 of them. The next year, I killed probably 8-10. This year, didn’t see a single one. Never have seen one in the house. But they love being around the pool equipment.
