💬 ⛈ The weather thread. The south braces for the weekend cold (Moved here for a few days since some of y'all will feel this.)

Thanks. UGA at Texas was moved up, probably so that UGA could return, so I thought maybe the same would be for our game.
Yeah, when I left Austin yesterday it was still in the 60’s, really glad we shifted our trip a day earlier. They’re getting it today.

The precipitation is getting the attention, but the cold air for the next week will end up being the story.

You ever received one of those series of texts that was beep...beep...beep...beep...? You KNOW someone is going off about something, right? It happened a few minutes ago. It was a friend of mine from Memphis through school at UA who is back in Oxford now in the drug business (Pharmacist, ha!) Now, he's a dyed. I mean dyed to the core socialist/liberal/you name anything opposite capitalism and he's defined. BUT, he's a hell of a nice guy and one hell of a chess player. He's possibly a reincarnation of the late Stephen Wright: deadpan, all the time.

What's shocking this morning was how profusely he was going on about Fox News. How hard they were working! How they were right on top of the news, accurate, shining a light in places no one has.

I'm thinking, "he's drunk."

.....

...minutes later I find out they (Fox) are outside of one of his places covering the storm coming through Oxford. It's the weather folks. Yeah, right on top of the news (in the storm,) accurate (they are outside,) shining a light (it's a dark section of the street...)

I'm not saying he wasn't drunk.

Are you a duck hunter?
I go 2-3 times each season. But my friend that owns the Taj Mahal blind that I usually go with, fell climbing off one of his big tractors in November. Broke his leg, wrist and arm (at elbow). He didn’t get to go any and so neither did I. If we could’ve gotten his wheelchair out there, we would have. Considered getting a helicopter to pick him up and lower him in the blind 🤣

Been out to thorny cypress a few times, good duck hunting around your area.

In the last five minutes:

Anchor to reporter in the field, "It's been a hot minute since we checked in with you."

Another reporter out of Times Square in NY, "you can see it's a melting pot..."

The red outline you see to the west of Barton that's next to the 72 Hwy sign? That's Cherokee. NNW of there you'll see Waterloo. The national news I've watched this morning has highlighted both areas as some of the worst hit in N AL with 1"+ of ice.

Reminds me of the ice story that hit in the 80's except that same area had 7-8" of ice in that one.

We used to beat the bejesus out of Waterloo in sports. Cherokee was slightly tougher. I vaguely remember a big ice storm sometime in the 80’s but I clearly remember one in 1994 that brought inches of ice. We were without electricity for a week or more. It was memorable.
