💬 The Masters 2018

Reed seems destined to run away with things.
I can't help but respect the way played yesterday. The suggestions he'd crumble on Saturday seemed to fuel him. This morning, the same suggestions are being voiced with a lot of the media picking Rory. More fuel?

Ryder Cup: It was easy to root for Reed over Rory.
The Masters: It always boils down to a US thing for me unless there's a storyline or golfer that I'm not a fan of...

Are you a fan of Patrick Reed?

He grew up playing golf at University Lab in Baton Rouge. I'm surprised he chose UGA to attend school. UGA didn't last long. Whether he quit or was booted is up for debate or which story you choose to believe. He was accused of cheating (in golf, mind you) and theft at UGA. He went on to play at Augusta State where he was part of two teams with titles.

He did post a picture attending the ND vs UGA game dressed in ND gear. Is that throwing shade? Yeppers, but it's at UGA...so. BUT, that makes him a Notre Dame guy? Oh...another reason to root against him today.

Seeing a career Grand Slam versus those lingering questions...hrmm.

*Tommy Fleetwood flies in the face of the traditional PGA member, doesn't he? He needs a "red" to just cap off the look.
*Faldo: -14 wins today. That's expecting no movement from Reed. Also said "we're seeing the making of a legend today." He's calling for Rory.
*Nobilo: likes -14 under as well.
*The streaming coverage through TGC, The Master's site, and CBS has been quite good this week.

The only thing missing Saturday was Aquaman making an appearance on "aqua" day on the course. I read Nike is not allowing Reed to wear red. If I see Tiger out there in his traditional Sunday red, and I most certainly expect to, I'd expect the outspoken Reed to tell Nike what to do with their edict. Patrick Reed seems to be the Kyle Bush of the PGA, so it will be interesting to see if he can stand the pressure of the back 9 today. Never know who puts it in another gear, but I'm pretty sure I'm just not a fan of McIlroy.

In case you've missed it...

The Featured Groups stream for this afternoon features JT, Spieth, Reed, and McIlroy. Li, Woods, Casey, and Cabrera Bello are featured this morning.

I hadn't heard about that. I can understand it, sort of. You say "Sunday red." Tiger does have his niche advertising Nike, on Sunday's, in red and black. I can see them putting something like that in but only under certain parameters. Where did you catch the story? (said while knowing a quick Google search is in my immediate future.)

Ralph Lauren picks out JT's wear from week to week. I'm sure he has some say although I'm sure how much. There's a few times I've tried to find out how his (JT's) endorsement deal is set up with RL. I haven't found much on it anywhere.

Nike is mandating their players all wear pink. CBSports is your friend.

Why Masters leader Reed can't wear red on Sunday golf

You better be able to play and play well when strolling down the fairway in Pink.......Polo has much better looking threads than what they're sending JT to wear..........

I'm guessing Nike doesn't have long sleeves in red?

Predictable. I liked it better when Nike said they were getting out of golf.

Regarding the pink mandate, I liked it better, too.

Then again, Ricky Fowler is still sporting the 1970s Tampa Bay Buc orange again. Pinks's not so bad in that regard.

You left out/skirted around the more pertinent fact that he and his is a complete douche canoe. A fat frat boy, cheat and a thief that majority of the tour hate because he is a smug a-hole. It was only last month that he was whining and running his mouth to an official claiming he'd get a different ruling if his name was "Speith." I can't stand him. Hope he collapses in grand fashion today. Moreover, I'd love to see Speith come back and top him.

Well, McIlroy melted once again. Rory must have missed at least 5, 3 to 5 footers today. I give Patrick Reed a lot of credit. He was hanging in there all day and each time someone made a run, he was able to fight it off, most of the time making clutch putts. It certainly wasn't his best round, but he was the one being chased.

Me thinks you're exercising a little "journalistic freedom" here.

This is where your earlier post threw me for a bit of a loop. I'd read what you said with the interpretation it was because of Tiger he could not wear red. It wasn't.

Of note, Reed added via the Sporting News that this isn't because of Woods himself, as Woods generally wears red and black on Sunday. It's a different thing entirely.
I'm assuming it was a breast cancer awareness move considering all of the other teams, in other sports, wearing pink this weekend as well. I'm all for that!!! It's a battle that has hit close to home, more than once.

That's a nod to Okie State. I watched him play in college and saw him start that "fad."

I did catch this quote from him this past weekend:
"As far as anything I wouldn't wear, that's a good question. I guess it would just depend on the situation, and how I was feeling that day.
"Oh, and I'll tell you this, I wouldn't wear crimson or burnt orange under any circumstances."
Crimson and burnt orange are the colours of rival schools Oklahoma and Texas.

I caught the comment about Spieth on "The Morning Drive." I took it as more of a tongue in cheek comment. I didn't take it was "whining" or "running his mouth." That said, I can see where you're coming from and can also see how you could take it that way based on how he's reacted to things in the media in the past (IE: "I didn't get kicked out of Georgia for theft/cheating while playing.")

Hey. Here's my thing. If it's true that he cheated on a qualifying round while at UGA that's enough for me--with the more I read the more it seems to be the case. I'm a bit of a stickler when it comes to the rules of golf. It's not to the point I'll call a playing partner over to agree/disagree on an unplayable lie but I'm certainly not one to improve my lie.

If the man has cheated in scoring on his own golf card? Geez. I'll have a hard time rooting for him when the last week of September rolls around. Bama FTBL is playing La-La that weekend...viewing choices that day are TBD.
