šŸˆ Tennessee is hiring UCF’s Josh Heupel as its next head football coach,

I get the Vols reaching out to big names just to make them say no, but there was zero chance of them landing Campbell, Fickell, or Brian Kelly (all guys who supposedly were contacted). They did about the best they were going to do.

Agreed. They will get a whole new gunning offense with Huepel as well. I don't consider this a bad hire considering the mess they were in. He had success as a player, did decent at Central Florida. now he'll open up recruiting grounds with a better offer from Tennessee, utilize those Florida relationships he built, new offense, and I don't think this is near as bad of a hire as Auburn's.

I do not go to the Viles football sites but I am sure they are full of wonderful positive posts reflecting their excitement about this hire:).

ashamedly i did......so, dont judge me!!!....lol
Its about 1/3 positive....2/3 negative....a few wait n see'ers.......

a bunch really wanted Malzahn or Hermann.... most wanted Freeze ( so somebody will hire Freeze now...after next season...and he wont end up a vol......which may have been the hire to rescue them...)

wont go there again...promise...

Hard to say...but they should improve offensively... and cant judge anything on 2020....
With all of the kids hitting the portal and/or already transferred out, it will take him awhile to have some semblance of a mid-major offense. I say by year 3, they will be looking at him on the hot seat.
You say we "can't judge anything on 2020!" What about our National Championship? This team? You are judged on results regardless. Whether it be a pandemic, injuries, opt outs, suspensions, etc. The results are, Heupel got worse from year 1 to year 3 and got BLASTED in his last bowl game by BYU!!

His first year, they won 12 games. 10 in year 2, and 6 this year. I would say that years 1 and 2 were primarily Frost recruits and year 3 were all his kids and his system. I wonder if he will get to 6 wins within 3-4 years at UT.

Well, his star quarterback got hurt too. He will definitely get to six wins. The East is weak, so when you add non-conference, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, and a possible cross-conference game against an Arkansas, Auburn, or Mississippi State, you have a shot.

certainly wasn’t referring to bama in not judging year....
Bama was a focused bunch....unlike many others...
But the success or lack of....because of opt outs.......
Was really hard to put a finger on some because of covid related...
Just saying...

You talking about Milton, who got hurt under Frost, or Gabriel? Gabriel played all season long in '19 and in '20. Missouri with Eli D won't be a push over and Arky was a pretty salty bunch in stretches as well.

I simply used BAMA as an example. What about Oklahoma then? They lost 2 of their first 3 games and everyone left them for dead. They could've used the excuse of "muh covid pandemic" and cashed it in, but that bunch regrouped and finished 9-2 and 6th nationally.

Talking about Milton. I thought he was hurt during Huepel, could be easily wrong though.

I 100% agree with you about both of those programs. I was just stating the path to six isn't as difficult if a game falls their way, added in the out of conference. Could always be like Auburn and win two games due to whiffed calls by the refs.

Milton got hurt in the '18 season in which UCF finished 12-1. Their loss was to Lswho in their bowl game.
