šŸˆ Tennessee is hiring UCF’s Josh Heupel as its next head football coach,

Over the last few days:

Finebaum is reporting the search for a new coach should be over in the next few days. There's no doubt White is in a hurry trying to salvage as much as he can of the program; literally. (The amount of player hitting the portal is getting close to heavy sanctions numbers and those sanctions...they comin'. )

I was surfing around yesterday, maybe Sunday, and noticed one of the "plane trackers" mention UT's plane was in Happy Valley. 247 is reporting Franklin turned them down (7-8 million dollar offer.)

Elliot's name is still popping up a lot.

The checkbook is all they have at this point. If 8 million will not get James Franklin then Steele should get the gig for a couple of years.

I listened to Clay Travis this AM on Jox and that guy is in complete denial about the job. He believes there are many that would crawl to K-ville for that gig. Hell he might be right. We'll see. If you look at it from a dollar view then a good coach could demand 5-7 million per year and a 6 year deal with a buyout of near 15 million if they fire him after 3 years due to W's and L's. So with apx 30 million in your account after 3 years you should be able to walk into the night and never have to blow the whistle again.

This is where Kiffin messed up....he should have stayed at TN while USCw was getting skull drugged because of sanctions....
And then jumped at USCw....there isvirtually no way to survive with the heavy sanctions when everyone else has more recruits....more players...and bowls and tv...
And playing in competitive conference...
Takes years to overcome such...

youre right...might get money...but guys at that level want more.... like coach fran...
Could have stayed at bama ...worked through sanctions...but didnt wanna be working so handicapped...

look at bama roster...Nicks first year...no draft picks....from Dubose, Price, n Shula
Almost 10 years ( Dubose took over a nicely...not overly stocked program)...
And these guys had Bama name to work with...and Alabama HS football program

No state income tax in Tennessee. You can work for less but the more you make, the more you keep.

Franklin was my dark horse pick for both the auburn and Vol jobs... and I was hoping he'd get either one. Personally, I think he is way overrated. It looks like he's set to make ~$6 million at PSU next year? Not sure how motivated he'd be about having to jump into that Vol dumpster fire (even for a raise), but I won't be at all shocked if he looks for SEC jobs after Saban is done (if he's still viable by then).

Several years back when Ole Miss was going through the sanctions from Freeze, I remember Cole Cublic saying the same thing about Ole Miss. Said the prestige of coaching a team in the SEC is enough of a draw for so many guys, they will tackle the toughest of uphill battles. If he said that about OM......I have no doubt the same applies for UT, simply based on the fact that they have a better history/tradition than Ole Miss.

That's a take from Cole considering Auburn's last two hires. We didn't see people beating down that door.
