šŸˆ Tennessee is hiring UCF’s Josh Heupel as its next head football coach,

On SEC Now Chizik mentioned whether or not Heupel would choose to go the Randy Shannon route for defense. That makes me wonder about Steele. Do they release him?

If so, that's likely Steele getting the full contract amount: a million for a month's work.

Poor guy would be an interim HC for 2 separate SEC schools in the same month get nothing but a fat check(s) and some free t-shirts.

Yea Clay’s talking like he’s shocked about this hire....what the hell did he expect?

LOL I could have told him last week that they weren’t going to get a slam dunk hire. He has his extra dark orange colored glasses on and is letting his emotions for UT football cloud his thinking.

Why the hell would a GOOD coach go to Tennessee right now? Their only option was to take a chance and hope it works out.

In re: to Clay Travis, he's is one of the main reasons they are in the position that they are in. 100 people out of 100 would say Schiano is the better hire than Heupel, but Clay torpedoed that and they eventually ended up with Pruitt. I'm not saying anything that everyone doesn't know, but it shouldn't be forgotten when Clay hops on the box and starts bitching about the Vol's situation.

Isn't business good for Travis if the Viles are struggling? With his business model and mode of operation he needs to be the pot stirrer so Vile fans engage with him. This is a lot like Finebaum in the post Bear days, Bama being down gave him a platform that eventually led him to working at ESPN and a lot of $$.

I'm not going to pretend that I follow much of what Clay does these days, but I know he's making a ton of money. I also know he has a blind spot when it comes to the Vols (and Titans too probably). But, it seems like over the years as he has grown his stirring empire, that the overwhelming majority of his content is politics meets sports, right? Or is that just all that runs across my timeline? He's definitely of the Finebaum ilk though. Swings way above his weight class, yet somehow, has developed a cult following that just throws money at him.

Yes, on all accounts sans the "stirring." Does he hit nerves? NO doubt. He's inflamed some of the national media with his "Coronabros" theme. However, I have to say. A good majority of the time he's pointing out hypocrisy that exists.

Like Paul, I'm not a big fan of his content. And like Paul, he's done a hell of a job with his brand. He's a success story like him or not.

"The contract will include a clause that would add a seventh year if Tennessee faces NCAA punishments in the form of a postseason ban of two or more years and/or a scholarship reduction of eight or more. The buyout provisions also would extend by a year if such penalties are imposed."

Sounds like they know some serious penalties are coming.

Program is crippled. That contract basically says so and admits that the HC will be starting lame from day one. Kirby and Mullen (not that they don’t already) will beat the living hell out of them with negative recruiting. The low is about to get lower
