Del Rio is a dumb ass. If he had stayed at Bama, if he didn't start last year, he'd be a shoe-in for the starter this year. I never did really understand that deal. Why was it such a big deal about giving him a scholly? It's not like daddy is broke or something.

The bigger question is - if he would have been a shoe in to start this year, that's not worth a scholarship to our staff?

He did the right thing by leaving. If they can't commit a scholarship to the potential starting QB at Alabama, then you're probably not in the plans.

• If the kid was an average walk-on I agree. But Del Rio was not. Withholding the scholly wasn't about the plans for him, or about the money. It was the numbers game. We always have a number crunch going on in August to get under the 85. Del Rio could have been a big help by remaining a walk-on, but he needed to have his ego stroked. Then when he didn't get his way, he left. It just wasn't handled very well by anyone involved, including the coaching staff. JMO.

I wonder if Phillip Sims has some eligibility left.. Could you imagine having him and Derrick Henry in the backfield at the same time... Both of those guys got some chompers and messed up grills. The both look like they could eat an apple thru a tennis racket..lol
