🏈 Team update 2.0

Im watching and missing TJ and Amari. I forgot the kick out of bounds to start the game and then next play scoop up the lateral. BDS was rocking.
Yep I was there was Insane.

Lord Cornwallis.
That's what I thought.
I think Saban starts Morris. Game manager with a serviceable arm. Just like 2 out of our last three QB's.
Barnett will grow for a year and then reign supreme leaving Bama with 2-3 NC rings. Unless Morris gets injured, at which time it will be between Barnett and Coker. ( Gawd pleece no...just no.)

Lol solid plan in all honesty.

Anyone who's thinking Morris could play the GMAC/McCarron "game manager" role is vastly underappreciating both those guys. Particularly McCarron. Intelligence and leadership for GMAC were off the charts, and AJ was special in a lot of ways. Morris is not at that level. I'm very comfortable saying that this is likely the worst case scenario for Saban and Kiffin...

I'm still holding out hope one of the youngsters can win the job. If we are going to start a guy with no experience, might as well be one with loads of upside and years to stay.

That's the idea, Morris knows the offense extremely well. It's like clockwork to him.

@Tidestalker are you of the opinion that starting Morris would be better or worse than starting Spencer Pennington?

Two very different situations. That era of bama football ('03-'04 ish?) aren't in the same conversation talent wise. I think if Morris had to run his teams, I'm thinking it would have been ugly. Hard to say how Pennington would have done with this group... Didn't he start as a third stringer the season he won the Music City Bowl? So I guess Morris is pretty comparable.

If it were 2009 and handing off to Mark Ingram against all the "regular" offenses in the SEC would be good enough, Morris wouldn't be as bad an option. But this is 6 years later and scoring points is a must. I'm sorry but with the talent on this team, anything less than a playoff appearance is a disappointment. All around this is an incredibly talented team in so many ways... But QB happens to be an enormously important position. That position can and will decide who wins the national title... Morris was punting last Spring... Goodness gracious.

I always forget the rule on RS a player.... they can play a certain amount and still qualify right? So it is possible we see Barnett in the opener, and then RS if the coaches feel it's better right?

Players age minus number of minutes played divided by weight. Multiply that number by GPA and that determines if RS is possible. You should know that, we've discussed before.
