🏈 Team update 2.0

I think I've seen a couple posts about him, but how has Damien Harris looked? If he is legit as his hype, I see him getting the 2nd most carries this season. Drake will be moved around a bit IMO, plus it seems he's had nagging injuries.

Nate,

Harris is the real deal, Hit the hole quickly, is kind of like a Fowler bowling ball, hard to bring down.

IS there a possbility we'll see rotation at QBs against wisconsin? I could see Coker starting and if games is out of hand...we could see Morris and Cornwell in the game... that may help determine our depth going forward.

if no separation occurs this week and weekend, absolutely. If that is the case Coker will probably start as he is deemed "safest".

Morris- Knows the offense better than anyone, has game smarts, can pick out weaknesses in a defense. Not many people can do that well. Morris even helped Blake last year by pointing out weaknesses and exploiting them. His QB skills are average aside from that, average arm and not that quick.

I know a little about Allen High School where Morris was the QB (I don't really pay much attention to them...although they've been winning state football championships alot recently, 3 in a row).

For those of you who don't know, they have an enrollment of about 4,500 students 9-12 grade. They for whatever reason opted to be a single high school town, the city population is about 90,000. All their sports teams are loaded, most cities around here that size would have at least 5 high schools, probably closer to 6 or 7. So they have a lot of competition and tons of kids to choose from in any of their extracurricular activities (sports, band, etc). That being said, he was good enough to beat out all the students they had for the starting QB job his Senior year.

Back when he committed to Alabama, I remember they had something like 45 or 50 kids from that school that signed scholarships to play athletics from a single high school across all the sports, which should give you some perspective.

Perhaps @Big Balls knows a bit more about the situation there.

I hope this scrimmage does a better job of separating the QB's than last week's did. If it doesn't, CNS is likely to have an aneurysm.

I have absolutely no "inside info" or anything else but I've always wondered if Morris was one of those players that needed to be in a game to shine. Some players don't impress that much in practice etc, but rise to the occasion when the lights are on and the hits are real. Just speculation

This is about the gist of what I know also. He was very imopressive in high school and just like planomateo said, that means a lot for him to stand out at Allen.

BamainbigD would have a lot more insight on Morris, if I could ever get him to freakin join the board. I know he went to several of Allen's games.

Thanks for the info and conversation in this thread. Nothing against Coker, but it would be really disappointing to know that a graduate transfer QB (I realize this will be his 2nd season on campus) could come in and get hurt during the 1st scrimmage and none of our other guys that are supposedly competing for the same position could unseat him.

I know that everyone is saying this week will tell the tale, but still, how bad has our QB recruiting and development been for us to be in this situation? Blake Sims shocked the world last year and thank goodness for him. Are we expecting lightning to strike twice with Coker?

GMAC commented on Coker this morning on Sirius. It was simple, he said he has all the tools but he has cement feet in the pocket and cannot process information. He said Barnett is the most talented but may not be ready for the big time, He predicts Morris starts and Barnett takes over.
