🏈 Star Jackson to WR ?

I was surprised when I read that article.

Numerous quarterbacks are starting to reel in multiple offers, led by 6-foot-2, 215-pound Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, Va.) standout Phillip Sims. He has at least 14 written offers, including one he received from Georgia at the end of last week. Sims also has offers from, among others, North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Alabama, West Virginia, Clemson and Boston College. He plans on visiting Alabama sometime during the spring, and the Georgia offer is of interest to him as well. Sims said Georgia has told him true freshman quarterback Zach Mettenberger could be moved to tight end eventually and said Alabama told him redshirt freshman Star Jackson could be moved to another position as well.

It's too early to be so critical of Star's talent at QB. IMO though, Sims has A LOT more upside then Star. Jackson is the better scrambler but when I look at Sims' video, he seems throw a much better ball. All around, accuracy and arm strength...espcially the deep ball.

Kind of tough to compare a Jr in high school to a redshirt freshman in college though.

Bottom line is that its about Max Contribution. If a player gets lost in the depth cart at one position but could contribute more elsewhere that new spot is where they should go.

That said, its up to Star to make himself too good as a QB to move elsewhere.

Don't know about WR, but the odds of him ever being a starter at QB for Bama just got a bit longer. Not a knock, as I wish him the best, but the competition at EVERY POSITION is getting stiff......I likee!!!

I would have to agree. Its way to early to speculate where or even if a kid will make a position change. Wasn't it mentioned that Star was a couple of years away from being truly ready ? I think alot of these guys get something from another school (i.e. UGA) and then cut and paste the names to other kids and schools thinking that this will stick.

My verdict is we could have a really outstanding team. Our defense like we've known for awhile now is going to be great.

Maze is going to be a dangerous weapon for us.

Cody showed burst and good side to side movement.

If Greg goes out we're in trouble because neither of the backups impressed me at all today.

RTR,
Cory

Greg showed me pretty much what I expected. Darrah took a little while to settle in and looked better once he did. He throws a nice looking ball. Star looked like he was trying not to make mistakes instead of just playing(considering he is a redshirt, that was kinda expected).

I'm going to try to not be derogatory towards ur players. So I'll just say we are royally screwed if Greg gets hurt.

It's a known fact Star isn't as far along as Greg right now.

It's a good supposition thinking Greg would have had a hard time if he was behind our 2nd string OL yesterday.

There is a HUGE disparity right now between the 2's on the DL and the OL.

Oh I don't doubt that our 2nd string OL is sketchy at best, but the thing that stood out to me is that Darrah looks like he has a better arm. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not writing Star off at all. He's been through 1 year of legit college coaching and that's the only time I've seen him play so he might've not played his best.

My opinion remains the same, he needs to keep improving or he will never be a starter. He has potential and talent, it just seems the mental part hasnt flipped the switch.

If he hasnt grown as a reliable backup by the fall, AJ McCarron may be the backup if Greg gets hurt. Regardless, odds are it wont bode well if McElroy goes down, but we arent dependent on the passing game, so it might not be that big of a deal.
