šŸˆ GAME THREAD ā Alabama vs Mississippi State ⭐ ESPN & SECN - Noon ET.

I disagree with this. I don't think it was about style points here. Saban was ready to take him out but Tua lobbied to go back in for one more drive and it worked. This was about stats for Tua's Heisman hopes. I think he wanted a 300/3TD stat line. We could still have gotten style points with Mac if they kept the offense going and the defense in.

Heisman? Since when has Saban ever put an individual award ahead of his team? And Burrow, barring some insanely crazy meltdown is winning the Heisman.
We should still be able to get style points without him being in the game. This is a game we are dominating. There is no reason to think Jones could not have put more points on the board. No excuse for him being in the game with a 35-7 lead. Respectfully disagree. I think CNS made a bad decision.

Easy to say after the fact, but with the way our defense gives up points at times there was no reason not to play the guy. If it were you and I out there,we would have wanted to gut it out too.

"Should" be able to. Tua is as almost a guarantee as I've ever seen at driving a team down field. I'm not willing to risk that with everything in front of me. As I said, easy to say in hindsight now, but shit happens, and it just did. If we all go through life letting off the gas at moments of success, society would fall. You gotta keep that foot on the petal and keep moving forward.

I'm not saying that that's why Saban did it. I'm saying that's why Tua lobbied to go back in(and I'm not saying the Heisman was a part of his argument in convincing Saban to let him back in either). Saban was just humoring his star QB.

We're in agreement about Burrow and the Heisman but like you said, there's always that chance something unexpected happens.

Atleast we have a legitimate excuse for not winning it all anymore. I'd bet $1,000 mo other team in the country could sustain our injury report this year and still be competitive for a Natty.

If you would read earlier posts, I asked the question about getting him out early in the 2nd quarter to avoid the risk of injury. Nothing after the fact about it.

We will agree that we are hoping and praying for the best for Tua. I don’t care if he can play again this year or not, I just don’t want him or anyone to have a career ending injury.

Lord, I ask you to give comfort to Tua’s family, that you would be glorified with the way Tua responds to this setback and that you would wrap your arms around this young man and let him feel your presence. We pray for complete healing with his body. Amen.

That's not even a hot take is my point. The ESPN broadcasters said it before the game, but that's just them creating narrative. Same could be said next weekend if he got hurt first series, or even if he had gotten hurt last weekend.
