I disagree with this. I don't think it was about style points here. Saban was ready to take him out but Tua lobbied to go back in for one more drive and it worked. This was about stats for Tua's Heisman hopes. I think he wanted a 300/3TD stat line. We could still have gotten style points with Mac if they kept the offense going and the defense in.
Heisman? Since when has Saban ever put an individual award ahead of his team? And Burrow, barring some insanely crazy meltdown is winning the Heisman.
We should still be able to get style points without him being in the game. This is a game we are dominating. There is no reason to think Jones could not have put more points on the board. No excuse for him being in the game with a 35-7 lead. Respectfully disagree. I think CNS made a bad decision.
Easy to say after the fact, but with the way our defense gives up points at times there was no reason not to play the guy. If it were you and I out there,we would have wanted to gut it out too.
