šŸˆ GAME THREAD ā Alabama vs Mississippi State ⭐ ESPN & SECN - Noon ET.

Don't write Tua off at Bama yet. As someone said he now has the "injury prone" label and I'd bet his draft stock dropped today to perhaps mid to late second round. Him returning for his senior season to improve his draft status is possible.

Tua and his family certainly have some business decisions to make. I suspect it is going to come down to how convinced the NFL people are that Tua will make a full recovery. If so why not go ahead and go. His production and talent on the field has already been proven.

If Tua has a long recovery then he may come back. I suspect he would have to feel that he would be 100% by sometime before the draft and be able to work out somehow to show it to go after this year. Assuming the release is telling us the full extent (ie: no fracture that requires more work) then it is quite possible he will be good to go before the Combine/Pro Day and not come back. As far as I am concerned, he has nothing to prove to me by coming back, he is the best Bama QB ever. But he may have something to prove to the NFL.

If he goes in the draft he might not be high first but if you are smart you take that shot on him. He’s honestly the best prospect with the most film. Burrow has been great but that is a one year sample size can’t really trust it fully. If he’s there late first I hope the Titans take him honesty

#58 is the best DL Bama has and when he hits them they don't keep running. He might not know what to do on every play but what is the point when those that do can't make the tackle. Leave the big guy on the field!
You're going to have to help a guy out here. I'm reading this and it makes for a state of confusion.

All season you've been outspoken about how bad you think the interior linebacking corps is for Bama. One of the things you've mention on several occasions has been their tackling. It's a solid critique.

For the last decade you've been watching Bama closely and have seen the role of both the defensive line and the linebackers. The former, with responsibilities and gap assignments and the 'backs as the "closers." The tacklers, if you will.

So, I'm reading this comment and seeing "play Barmore even though he misses those gap assignments" which inevitably puts the tackling on the corps you've been critical of all season long?

I don't get this. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

I'm not saying that that's why Saban did it. I'm saying that's why Tua lobbied to go back in(and I'm not saying the Heisman was a part of his argument in convincing Saban to let him back in either). Saban was just humoring his star QB.

We're in agreement about Burrow and the Heisman but like you said, there's always that chance something unexpected happens.

I don't think any of us knows Tua's motivation to ask to play another possession. I'm going to go with he's a kid who wants to compete, not that he was thinking Heisman when he lobbied his coach to keep playing.

Do you view the gap assignment issue as bad as those that complete the assignment and shit the bed when the ball carrier arrives? #58 played on 3rd down for the most part up until yesterday where that changed because they had no choice. He played pretty damn well. The LBers played like shit yesterday but hey they've done that for the other 8 games. Call me when a ball carrier runs thru the tackle of #58.

I know the D is young but when do we start asking about the position coaches coaching them up? If they keep doing the same things you either say it is an ability issue or coaching.

Let's change this to call you when they run through the gap he was supposed to plug and I'd have called you eight of the ten games Bama has played this season.

Look at this another way if you will. IF Barmore was doing what he's supposed to do with his gap responsibility we wouldn't be seeing so many missed tackles from the ILB's, right? And don't get me wrong here. Those ILB's have missed gaps as well this season.

There is a HUGE amount of potential with CB but like some of the others it's taken more than one season of seeing action for him to realize that potential. It's my view we're just beginning to see him come around.
