Lowering the fields really is the only thing that can be done after we expand the South endzone. So of course I'm for lowering the field :D . As far the the massive jumbotrons.......Bring them on!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Surely we can come up with some sort of hovering section of stadium... :):)

or integrate some sort of hanging bleacher section from a dome... talk about noise level.... like those roller coaster where they strap you in and your feet are dangling... :) make those seats general admission :D

Here's something I've came across.

I understand that drawing is sweet. But i work for a design firm and we draw up things everyday that just get trashed. They make those renderings and talk numbers then trash the idea. its just a drawing...we are prolly talking at least 3 years away from them taking the ball from point A to point B.

it would be sweet...but i doubt anything is going to happen soon.

What is from "point A to point B"?

The preliminary geotech work has already been completed. I've heard that construction is supposed to start after the end of next season.

Point A from thinking about the expanision and point b would be getting all the numbers together. There is alot of things that would have to be put in place for everything to fall into place for this to happen quickly.

That seems to be the general idea behind the current 'plan'. The geotech and survey work have both been done as have estimates on the rerouting of Bryant Drive and the implications for Calvary's graveyard.

Well it's going to happen faster than that. I'm told construction is tentatively scheduled to start in 2009.

SWEET!!!!!

The rendering has a certain RETRO feel to it. It looks more like the exterior of the original bowl (for those of you old enough to remember that) than it looks like the direction that the North End Zone seemed to be leading.

I do like that fact that it has a structure/building there. It rounds out the solid, substantial presence should look mammoth as it towers over the opposing team that has to unload between the cemetery and the walls of the Crimson fortress.

It's not "Calvary's graveyard." It's Evergreen Cemetery. Also, I don't think that they're going to have to reroute Bryant Drive much less do anything with the cemetery.

The one BIG problem I have with BDS is that the first 5 or so rows of seats are pretty useless. You would do better to stay home and watch it on TV.

I kind of have to disagree that they are useless. Granted they don't give you the advantage of seeing a play unfold, it has it's own pro's being close to the action for some of us...

You can't get that from the seat of the coach :). I'll take any seat I can get to BDS.

Lol. I know it is called Evergreen but most don't. I grew up in Tuscaloosa and lived near there for years. At anyrate there has been some discussion in regards to the cemetary though as you say there seems to be enough resistance to the thought of tampering with it that Bryant Drive might not be altered. It is still up in the air from what I am led to understand though.

Some people were talking about the front 5-10 rows not having a good view. BDS can always do what Michigan did when they pulled up the old carpet and put in grass back int he early 90s. They lowered the field by 10 feet. UA could do that. Lower the field some. Not that big of deal considering the field is in crappy shape about October every year.
