| FTBL Select the option that *best* expresses your assessment of DeBoer to this point.

What best represents your evaluation of DeBoer as Bama HC so far?

  • He’s done well under unique circumstances: new to SEC, post-GOAT, an overrated roster, NIL, portal.

  • Meh, acceptable. Surprise wins & losses in year one were expected. I’m cautiously optimistic though.

  • I’m disappointed. Too many head scratching moments for a supposed top caliber staff.

  • I’m very concerned. 3 losses to unranked teams & no playoff was simply inexcusable with this roster.

Never the same? Spurrier won his Natty the following season. If my memory serves me, UF was “never the same” after Stoops left as Spurrier’s DC. Pretty sure that’s when Stoops turned OU around and beat one of Bowden’s best FSU squads, although Stoops was fortunate that FSU was without OC Richt who had left for UGA before the championship game. I always thought that was odd timing. Why not stay on with your team to win another Natty??? Then move on to UGA with another feather in your cap!
Spurrier never ran up on them or anyone like them again.. HIS WHOLE DEFENSE COULD NOT TACKLE TOMMY FRAZIER

One of the most toxic and intelligently bankrupt individuals to ever to be in major sports media, and yet he's propped up by the SEC for some reason. I'll go to my grave never understanding that. But I hope to God it's at least a day after he goes to his, so I can enjoy 24 hours in this world without him being in it.
He’s successful because you never go broke selling to dumbasses. There’s an endless supply

I voted 3 but I guess I'm really between 2 & 3.

A comment made by CKD, seeing the "fire in his eyes" and his reason for staying the course really bothers me. I wonder if it was really "fear in his eyes" and CKD misinterpreted it. The lack of adjusting during the game has me concerned about the entire offensive staff. And post season, the first staff "adjustment" we see is on the defensive side.

This is just my take on this, nothing more... but I'd put very little stock into what DeBoer says to the media in these situations. He's going to defend his players publicly, but he's just not nearly as skilled as some other coaches (yes, like Saban) when he's doing it in those situations. He kinda falls back on coach speak. That's the way I took his comments the other day... and at several other times this season as well.

I am not convinced that DeBoer has done a very good job getting players to improve. I am basing this on the fact that this team regressed as the season went on, especially against UM. However, I do think an argument can be made that the Defense definitely improved but was that do to Wommack? To be fair I'll still concede it was somewhat due to CKD. Offensively, this team got worse & that is supposed to be CKD's wheelhouse, right? This is why I chose 3.

I am NOT thinking about the need to put him on the hotseat. And there are other issues that I don't care to nitpick at this point. But he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt anymore for me.
Good point on development/improvement. I can only think of one player on the offensive side that improved as the year went on, Benard. And he didn’t have a stellar year by any means. But he did get more productive the second half of the year. Jam, Williams, Law, Prentice, Booker, Proctor, Haynes, Dippre, and Milroe didn’t show signs of improvement as the season progressed, at least to my untrained eye (and stats). We had some defensive guys that did improve, noticeably, like you said. Thats promising.

Cant disagree. Certainly improving might show up on score board.
3 vs ok
13? vs Michigan. ( i already forgot).
2 of last 3. Certainly no improvement on score board

And got ball near 50 for final drive. Flop

I love it when someone throws stones at glass houses from a structure that consists of only the framing; damaged, at that.
I don't love your gratuitous use of metaphors and cryptic style of communicating, as if you're at risk of revealing classified information. Just say directly what you mean, bro.

I went with two although I am more between two and three.

I am really disappointed with the offensive side of the ball. Bad reads, missed throws, blocking, not using the TE nearly enough, long progressing pass plays instead of mid range and quick slants and the lack of wheel routes. Just my opinion.

Defensively, we improved during the season even after losing players to injury.

Give me a minute while I look for a reason to care. 🙃
Oh it’s evident you care. Anyone who tries so hard, as you do, to say something meaningful and profound yet understood only by the smallest possible audience, cares. It takes far more effort to do this, so yes, you do care how you’re received on this platform. Perhaps I’m the first to push back on this habit of yours, but you’d be more easily understood by a wider audience if you were more direct.

Case in point…
If you knew from whom that was from (the graphic) you'd find neither a cryptic or metaphorical use of communication.
I don’t know him. So by all means, go ahead and be forthright in saying who he is, why it matters, and how that impacts the statistic he presented. I already admitted it can be spun in different ways, but I’m open and interested in your candid thoughts. If the statistic is inaccurate, tell us. Otherwise, trying to marginalize my post without explaining why you think it should be disregarded is self-defeating. This is how you look … you’re the character played by Peele 😆:

Setting aside the other stuff done here ...

I'm just like any of you guys: goofin' off. One thing though. When it comes to a player, who is still on campus and a member of the team, I have never said "that's what I see as the issue" until they were no longer a part of UA's football program. If they are still in school at UA? I leave it alone.

I will continue to make subtle, vague remarks because they amuse me. I'm quite adept at entertaining myself. It may not be your cup of tea but there's no two drink minimum.

I swear. Those comments are clear if you think about them. If need be, I'll walk you through the Allred analogy ... when we've finally moved on from Jalen as a member of the Bama football team.

Marcello is Barrett Sallee: on another network. He's Philip Marshall on a national scale now versus his time covering AU as a beat writer. He offers some good analysis on football while maintaining a huge blind spot. His posts are influenced by his fandom as much as a lot of the stuff from footballscoop has with their Ole Miss ties.

Here he's talking about Bama covering while his team is struggling to have a winning record.

Lol....if you have been around...and you have...You will know you arent first to "push...pull..."back... been in the spider web with @TerryP

That's not quite fair; context needs included. I've made references to music, bands, movies, TV shows, TV characters...if you knew, say, the song, you got it. Hell, I remember being shocked one day when I made an Arrested Development remark and Tim, of all people, caught it.

I'm eccentric. 'tis what it is.

Here it is again, what I’m talking about. It’s like you get off on using the most provincial style of communication when, in my opinion, you should be instead using the most widely accessible vernacular, as staff of a message forum that thrives on increased engagement and traffic. Besides I enjoy you, your wit, and your knowledge, so selfishly I naturally want to understand what you post. 🙂
