Since parting ways with Jim McElwain earlier this season, the Florida Gators have been in pursuit of Chip Kelly, the former Oregon and NFL coach.

However, Kelly is also listening to UCLA, which recently fired coach Jim Mora. His decision between the Bruins and Gators was expected to come on Sunday.

Now, though, Yahoo! Sports reports that the Gators are moving on, as they’ve heard Kelly will become the new head coach at UCLA:

Florida administrators met with Kelly on Sunday in New Hampshire and remained in contact with him earlier this week, but no deal was forthcoming between the two. Florida had kept its options open while engaged with Kelly and is now prepared to pursue those other candidates.

It would appear that UCF coach Scott Frost will be the Gators’ top target now, but how will he feel about being the backup plan?

Frost has also been linked to his alma mater — Nebraska — should the Cornhuskers decide to fire Mike Riley. Could the Gators miss out on both their top targets? That’s a scary thought, but it could happen.

As Florida reportedly moved away from Chip Kelly and zeroed in on Central Florida coach Scott Frost, a report came out Friday night that the Nebraska alum was already headed to lead the Cornhuskers.

ESPN reported earlier Friday that Florida is expected to meet with Frost this weekend.

Should the Cornhuskers fire Mike Riley, a report from Lars Anderson suggests they would turn to Frost, who is in his second season at UCF, which is ranked No. 15 in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings. The Knights are 11-0 after a 49-42 win over South Florida on Friday.

Entering that game, the Knights had the nation’s top scoring offense, averaging 48.2 points per game.

In the mean time, before Frost can truly focus on job prospects, the Knights will host Memphis Dec. 2 in the American Athletic Conference’s title game. They are also in good shape for a second New Year’s bowl in five seasons.

Anderson has been reporting that Frost to Nebraska is likely, and he’s standing by that report even after the Gators are expected to zero in on Frost.

For four, maybe five years now the people I know around Starkville have told me about Mullen being a real ass to be around. They've spoken of how he's rubbed people the wrong way both professionally and socially. I didn't take their stories like a grain of salt, per se, but filed them away with a "hrrmm." Now, with what appears to be no contact with Strickland, I'm beginning to rethink how I took the stories when I heard them the first time.

Something is odd there.

Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema was dismissed on Friday night, meaning that the Razorbacks will be trying to find a new person to head the football program soon.

That person might be in the same division as the Razorbacks, as Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn (+200) is the favorite to take Bielema’s place in Fayetteville, per OddsShark.

Malzahn, who has roots in the state of Arkansas and served as offensive coordinator for the Razorbacks in 2006, has been rumored to have interest in the opening and returning to his home state.

Washington State head coach Mike Leach (+300) follows Malzahn as the next favorite to accept the job, while Memphis head coach Mike Norvell (+450) comes in third. A couple of interesting men that are up there in odds is FAU head coach Lane Kiffin (+650) and former LSU head coach Les Miles (+800), which both have experience as head coaches in the SEC.
