If Bama finishes #1 and Oklahoma finish #4.....
Does Bama choose Miami or Dallas to play.... do they have a choice
And would they choose @Miami (Ttown to Miami...780 miles) to get the game outta Oklahoma's back yard?
Or Dallas for easier travel from Ttown (585 miles) near 200 miles different
And Miami...grass....dallas ...artificial turf
Is there a choice?

I think the committee places the #1 seed where they aren't in a geographical disadvantage. With Dallas being closer, we would likely go there BUT with the OU campus being 3 hours from the DFW area, then Miami would likely get the nod.

BAMA is undefeated in Jerry’s world though . Where do think they would LIKE to play ? A controlled environment that’s fast or open to the elements where you could have a field wet and slippery like Bryant Denny couple weeks ago ?

I would rather see us in Miami for selfish cheaper and time reasons. I could actually make that trip a lot cheaper than Dallas, atleast I would imagine.

There seems to be a lot of confusion on phrasing. I've seen quite a few take the phrase "the #1 team gets preference" to mean "the #1 team gets their choice."

As I understand this, you're correct. They're going to give the #1 team a preferred location. If it's against OU, they aren't going to put the game in OU's backyard.

As I understand it, the #1 team gets the closest venue to their campus. That may give Oklahoma an advantage for their fans, but we all know that Alabama fans will travel.

"The seeding determines the semifinal bowl game assigned to each matchup; the No. 1 seed is assigned to the site closest to its campus to prevent it from playing in a "road" environment."

@OldPlayer,

Selection Day

When assigning teams to the two sites, the selection committee will place the top two seeds at the most advantageous sites, weighing criteria such as convenience of travel for its fans, home-crowd advantage or disadvantage and general familiarity with the host city and its stadium. Preference will go to the No. 1 seed.

I think that's pretty explanatory (IF I'm reading it correctly. )

If I'm reading preference correctly...along with home crowd advantage or disadvantage...Bama is headed south.

Seems if its south Florida....sure wont hurt recruiting....good talent on bama from SF...and more available there....
So reading what @TerryP found about " selection "....
Seems they would ask.....#1....where u boys wanna play....
Or #1 makes it known....this is where we choose
Cool

I'm not so sure... Dallas is closer than Miami. If they only consider distance from campus, we're heading to Dallas. If it truly is looking at crowd size advantage, it may choose Miami...

However, we have to win this weekend first to even worry about it.

Disadvantage is the key word. If Bama plays OU, it will be in Miami. They will not give the #4 seed the advantage of playing closer to home than the #1 seed. The #1 seed gets the preference. Not choice.
