🏈 Say 1 Good Thing About The State of South Carolina

15 minute walk, maybe a five minute drive from my office.

Let me tell ya, when I'm on King Street and thinking about eating the last thing I'm thinking about is BBQ.

A few swear by Scott's BBQ. Personally, it's just not the type of place that suits my fancy (though you can't beat the aroma.) It has less seating than Dreamland...maybe a 1/3rd of the size. Maybe. It's the type of place you'd find in the West Haven area of Tuscaloosa.

Home Team BBQ holds the belt in Charleston if you ask me.

Not true, Rickey. Vice Principals, a HBO series, is based in Charleston and filmed at a school a few miles from me. American Gothic is set here. Trial and Error, Army Wives, and a few others. Several mini-series as well.
OK, Thank for the input, I didn't know this. OK then I will say Chickens Bog!

Mustard base is better than them all.
.looked like baby shit onthe meat....
Hand to God I was going to say the exact same thing: looks like baby shit in a diaper. The EXACT same thing.

Army Wives I think was filmed in Buford @rick4bama
It wasn't Mike. There were three locations they filmed at in Charleston: Navy base, Air Force base, and then at studios also in Charleston. IMDb surely has all the locations.

The best I've had in the area is Duke's. I'll say this about Home Team. The pulled pork and pimento cheese sandwich is too die for...with a side of their Mac & Cheese! <slobber>

In the "Did you know" segment today ... Taylor, one of the principle owners, is an Ole Miss guy. He didn't graduate, but was in school when the cooking bug bit.

What about Lewis Barbeque (from the article)? Looks like Texas BBQ to me, reads like it too as he's a Franklin's guy.

I'd describe it that way as well. I've not had the ribs there, but have had their sausage (homemade and a good spice flavor) as well as their "El Sancho." (Pulled pork, hot guts sausage, with a pickled red onion.) Hell of a sandwich.

Pretty nice bar area for a drinking lunch.

I thought the founder was a Georgia graduate?

May look like baby shit, but damn good if you can get past that.

The operating partner/Exec Chef is a guy named Taylor. He did some undergrad at Ole Miss before leaving college. As I recall him telling the story from Oxford he landed in both ATL and out in Colorado for a while. I know he "refined" his cooking skills here locally at Johnson and Wales.

Aaron (can't think of his last name...Segal, maybe?) is a ATL product. I know he went to school in NYC but I can't recall what school. He's their CEO. Taylor is the one responsible for the taste (at least that's what everyone, including Aaron, will tell you.)

There's quite a few faces for the group of restaurants. Taylor is the one most often seen. He's the one all the adv reps deal with. Aaron is considered another one of their pitmasters--there's four titled pitmaster with the group now.

It's unique to me because you can talk to 10 people about their places and some will call it Fiery Rons while others say Home Team.

As to the mustard based BBQ? Can we blame your family for your lack of taste? You got the football thing right by getting away from the UGA influences. I can't say that much about your taste buds. :naughtydevil:

I Have been gone for a week but this site has turned in to something I am not familiar with. Has all these changes made you love South Carolina and predicting Clemson winning a normal thing to do. Sorry but the Barbecue in Alabama like the white sauce at Big Bob Gibson's or the juicy Dream Land Ribs, Full Moon and Moe's, are way better than the yellow stuff in Carolina. I do like their vinegar sauce but come on that is just for when you are really drunk. Wake up and smell the RollllTide!
