Not a lot of fire from the coach!

A LOT, right?

With that in mind is it surprising TX moved the ball early against Bama last season in Austin? I think it's fair to suggest there's a different view on "if Ewers didn't get hurt." They put three points on the board, right?

Juxtaposition from one week of football:

Ya might want to look at how many passes Ewers has completed over 20 yards. Now, look at Jalen (who, by the way, was originally committed to...???)

~Bama needs to complete those 6-9 yard routes.
It's unfortunate that Saban has lost control of press conferences. I, for one, like the "tone" I'm getting.

I'm really leaning towards a double digit win here while admitting it's a really confusing game.

That's where I'm at. It is one of those games I think we will have a good sense of how the book ends around the time the 1st quarter ends. How are both lines holding up? Is Ewers on, off, or somewhere in between? What about Milroe? Can the Bama defense withstand Sark's script, and if not, can the offense either hold serve or at least show that they can do some damage of their own. How much can the crowd factor in? I don't normally care who gets the ball first, but I'll be interested to see what happens Saturday night. This should be a heavyweight fight. Who sets the tone first?

We didn't really hold the ball much longer than Middle Tennessee State, but we also know it was more of the opponent than our intentions to hold the ball. I wonder if Saban and Rees are going to deflate the ball and keep Sarkesian as handicapped as they can. If his offense isn't on the field, can he really win?

I think you are spot on in getting past the initial script from Sark. When Golding was DC, that was the biggest concern when facing Sark last year, or Lane any year, or Jimbo. Some of those games it went way beyond the script and they had the D's head spinning the whole game.

This year with Steele I am more confident that the D won't be picked on because Sark knows the weaknesses as good as anyone. Steele will let them play fast, regardless of the motions and shifting.

Offensively, I think Rees will use more formations and more variations in the run game and the offense will get off to a good start.

Sark will look at Auburn's tape, and his previous stay with Saban, to get an idea of what Steele will call. I think this time, Defense will be little more unpredictable given the talent we have on defense. As long we move right people around on Defense, that makes it hard for Sark to figure out waht's going on. WE just need to force Sark to open up the playbook from the start to play catch u, expose his intentions to run plays.

Letting them be athletes will be huge. We recruit high level athletes because of their speed and strength, so absolutely let them use that and don't hold them back. At times back yard football ain't a bad idea.
