Lanning's name is being tossed around a lot. First of all, who in his right mind would want to be the guy who replaces Saban?? Maybe a less experienced coach might be the way as it opens the door later on. Maybe that's a bad take but a Lanning/Schumann combo beats ANY idea like Dabo, Kirby, and...quite frankly, Kiffin. Secondly, please AD Byrne, don't hire a guy named Mike. HELL NO! Finally, I would think that before this announcement dropped that both Byrne and Saban not only have created a short list, but have also basically picked the successor and his agent has already been contacted and help create an informal agreement.
