"The Alabama coach was specifically upset by the NCAA’s testing during last December’s College Football Playoff, citing the fact that those four teams — Alabama, Michigan State, Clemson and Oklahoma — were all subject to testing, while other FBS schools were not."

ā€œIf they’re going to test, they should test everybody,ā€ Saban said. ā€œThey shouldn’t just test the four teams in the championship … So just because you got into the championship and the playoff last year your guys got tested — so those guys are all getting suspended next year. But how many other guys played in bowl games? It’s not the same standard for everybody.ā€

If you’re an Alabama fan reading between the lines, you might be worried that some of your favorite players could be missing from the field in September.

Saban didn’t exactly quell those fears as he charged forward Tuesday.

ā€œWhat good does it do for a guy who got tested in December to suspend him six games next September?ā€ he said. ā€œIs this changing behavior? … I don’t think that helps. I don’t think the guy can even remember, I know I won’t remember in September what happened in December of the previous year.ā€

Doesn't sound good, maybe multiple players suspended for 6 games. If so, could be a bad season. Guess we can hope its backups, but there goes the depth. But, if someone tested positive in December, why are we just hearing about it now? Drug test results come back within 48 hours, unless they were tested the day of the game, results should have been in and suspenions should have been made during the playoffs, not 9 months later. jmo

This was on another thread and I believe I posted that this sheds light on Tony Brown and his situation. We all know he was sent home for fighting before the Michigan State game. Saban then said during the spring that Tony "still had to work through some issues."

If they're talking about testing for pot...I've got a really, really bad feeling about this:bandhead:.
(Don't Roll that joint, Tide!) Furthermore, this is a load of crap! Has the NCAA ever done this before? With the importance of these games, it would have been decent of them to advise everyone (all teams) that testing would be done. This appears to me to be one of those 'gotcha' moments. Wonder what the odds are, that if any of these teams are implicated, that Bama would be the only one (excuse me while I find my tin foil hat. Just because I'm suspicious of the NCAA doesn't mean it's not happening).

Let's not wrap ourselves in a crimson flag. Whether one team was tested, four, or 128, these kids have the rules hammered into their heads. You are subject to testing at any time, and you agree to follow the rules. We need to take our medicine.

RTR,

Tim

My apologies

You're right. My apologies, as it was earlier and my reading skills had a sparkplug misfiring. I read it as the entire 4 Championship teams were tested. I now, don't believe that was the case. Still, it will be interesting to see the results. I just hope the "hammering" was successful and achieved the desired results. As talented and deep as Bama are, it could prove devastating to Bama's quest for another Championship run.

Roll Tide! (No joints/blunts though)

So the players fail a test and get to play in the playoff and the NC? No way. Last year Oregon had one player fail a test leading up to the playoff game. I assume Tony is the only player involved. Was Tony's fight due to him being mad about not being able to play?

Oregon's Darren Carrington, Ayele Forde benched after drug tests

I was thinking the same thing. How do you fail the test and still get to play in one or both games? Maybe I don't understand the rules, but I imagine an immediate suspension would be the sentence, not waiting till next year.

This is what keeps pointing me to Tony Brown and no one else. I think this is why Saban has also talked so many times about punishment as opposed to discipline.
