Thanks, Altie. I saw Shorty at a lot of Bama games in the sixties. It would be safe to say that I never saw him sober at a Bama game.

No doubt, psychojoe. I never saw him or spoke with him but, I have heard stories. One involves his lifetime admittance to any event at Alabama, such as parties, etc...

People say they would wake up after a party or something and Shorty would be curled up on their couch passed out. But, it was all cool back then. Nowadays, Shorty would be getting felonies just for drinking.

Easier times all around back then in regards to just living and letting live and letting people do their own thing. No way in the world Shorty could climb the flagpole at a game in today's environment. He would be immediately apprehended and caged.

Hi. My name is Jacquelyn Hutto. I've been looking around for info on Ralph "Shorty" Price that I don't already have. I was hoping you may still have those pics because they aren't showing up anymore. He was my grandfather and if anyone wants any more info about him or one of his books, there are tons of them and pictures at my granny's house. I sure wish he was still alive because he is sorely needed now days in politics...lol... and for entertainment. Thanks, Jacquelyn

I wish I knew who the heck he was. I don't think I was around during the time he was so famous. I didn't get to Bama until 1994.

I'm mainly posting because I agree about the ease of life 30-40 years ago. We still had problems like wars, money issues, gas shortages, political corruption. But we didn't have the cable news and the internet to tell us about it all day. I think sometimes we'd just be better off NOT knowing what we do know, now.

Jacqueline, I never had the pleasure of knowing your grandfather. But my parents (who both passed away years ago) always looked forward to seeing him when they attended Bama games. I hope you find some good information.

Thank you. I've found some pretty good stuff today. Growing up, I heard all kinds of stories and usually, if I ask someone of the right age, they remember him, which is awesome! They all have their own favorite story. About a year ago, I started looking on the net, but all I could really find was a short wiki description of him. Today I have found that lately people's curiosity about him and memories of him have been piqued for some reason. I have a few pics I'm going to upload in a little bit of him, my granny and my mom in one and him on the wall at a game with a police officer apparently telling him to get down. I just wish I could have known him myself. My mom was his youngest of 3 children and I have most of the stories of him through them and my granny. My granny has a full interview of him by a newsman that I saw when I was a child and we are about to get it transferred to DVD. I'm going to upload it on youtube eventually too. TTFN, Jacquelyn

Hi Jacquelyn. My name is Carolyn Morgan and I live in Florida. Ralph Price's mom, Rosa Pickett Price and my grandmother, Jean Pickett Stephens were sisters. My grandmother is in a nursing home now and the family is selling her home because she will never be able to return. Grandmother has tons of pictures from over the years and I have been going through them. In with all the pictures were some news clippings of Ralph Price's death. I started doing research to find out who he was and came across your post above. I have also come across a couple of younger pictures of Ralph.

I have seen posts from people who remembered him from the football games, but you were the first to say you were related to him.

I was just talking to a physco joe, one of our staff here, about Shorty this morning. We were looking over / talking about a few photos of him he had sent me a few weeks ago. And now, this thread pops back up!!! Wow.

IF you happen to upload some of the photo's to a site like photobucket, or something along those lines, please stop back by and let us know. I'd LOVE to look over them or perhaps keep some of them in our photo gallery here.

Granted, most of our pics here are in the last decade or so but we do have over 26,000 pics with Alabama football here...
