| OT Radio/TV: What's your morning routine?

Up at 4:00am M-F; ~7:00am S-S. The only time my TV comes on is when I'm going to play a game (PS5), watch a BAMA game, or watch a movie. I don't watch broadcast TV, anymore. And I haven't listened to any radio stations in quite a while. When I'm in my truck, I plug my phone in and listen to Apple Music (I have 36 playlists). I also listen to it while at work.

Up at 730-900. When ever dog wants out
Coffee till 10. Or so.
Breakfast around 10.

Decide whether its play day or project day.
Warm. Riding Go to mountains. Walk with dog. Check in at rolltidebama.

Work on vehicle. Something always needs doing.

Cook out some burgers

Cold project time. Lots on farm

Pop a cool one around 5. Maybe 4. 3 even

Call it a day

Take care of dogs. Feed my teenager for school if I have him. Make a pot of coffee. Handle all emails, schedule service calls, & appointments from 7:30- 8. Get on RTB. Call Clients & service centers from 9 until finished. Usually cook breakfast eat then after 16 hour fast.

Linger on RTB & Youtube.

Go on appointments as needed. Schedule any needed 3:3pm0 service calls or confirm afternoon appointments (I deal with investments & estate planning, which requires me to follow up on service requests... so I always have 9am & 3:30pm services calls that MUST be scheduled early OR I'd forget 🫤)

Busy busy

What has changed? Look at the date of the original post.
Ok, I admit it threw me off when I noticed that I had already replied to this almost 12 years ago. That is when I looked at the date.

As for myself, the graveyard shift is a thing of the past. Now I go into work at 4am which means getting up between 2 & 3 am. Nowadays I don’t really worry about news unless it is about weather.

The good thing about this shift is during football season I usually don’t miss a game. Then again if it starts at 11am I miss the first half.

I'm looking forward to having a more routine routine in retirement. This year, travel has messed with it, got home from Fort Lauderdale last night, and after Dallas next week I'll be done with work travel for the year. I have perhaps three significant travel commitments in January and February, and then I'm done.

When I travel, I'm usually up between 4 and 6, and I watch CNBC as I read, plan the day, work and get ready at the hotel.
When I'm in the office, I don't have a morning routine, any delay around the house just makes the commute worse, so I just get ready and go, try to be in the office by 5:30-6:30 which gives me about an hour or so before I start getting bothered.
Working from home, I'm up around 4:30 - 5:30, do some morning readings, study and review, and then I'm into the day.

Thinking about retirement, I'd like to strive for a regular wakeup around 5:30 or so. That would give me about an hour and a half to read the news before my wife rises. The weather and time of year would affect my plans, but some type of more regular exercise regimen is in the works. Consolidating the houses, getting one sold, and getting everything to Bama will be an undertaking, as will be the landscaping work at the lake. A few travel goals in '25 includes Italy, some domestic trips and two domestic hiking trips.

that's when you walk outside and say, "okay."

Do you remember those hanging rods you used to see in the back of traveling salesman's cars? That's almost life...hate these days where there are 30 degree differences in morning to noon to night.

The most important thing to do when you retire is .....get rid of structure
...not all at once...let it slowly slip away...

Thats my favorite part after 20+ years...

Yes, I think we'll be very project and goal oriented for the first several years. I'm going to try to maintain a deliberate approach to things.

Its really a different world.
Some can manage n handle.
Its like opening a door into a whole new world
