Terry, I'm too lazy to go back and look for the thread, but I specifically remember during the summer that you stated you expect a similar type game for Arkansas as they experienced last time they visited BDS in 2009. While it may not be as drastic on the scoreboard, you felt good about our chances to do well against them again this year.

While I know it is waaaay to early being 3 weeks out. I wanted to throw this out there and get your opinion, or at least give us something to talk about leading up to it. What say ye?

I haven't watched the replay of their game vs Missouri State, yet. But, I did glance over the extended box score over on their official site just to see who scored, how, when, etc. Honestly, there's nothing about that game that's changed my opinion of Arkansas.

They gave up three sacks against MSU which tells me my theory on the offensive line is probably true. Good interior, weak outside and susceptible to good defense. MSU doesn't have a good defense.

I am seeing a game where we hit Tyler Wilson as much as we did Ryan Mallett two years ago. We were in RM's head so badly by the second series that game was practically over. In fact, the only other QB that has taken more abuse than Mallett did that day was Jevon Snead two years ago.

I see Tyler hurting by the second half.

Interestingly enough, Arkansas opened their season back in 2009 with a win over MSU...'round 40 points if I recall correctly. This year they were facing an MSU team starting a new, frosh QB. And, on top of that, from what I've read their HC changed their game plan—as in the scheme they run—and the offense fell apart. They went back to their original scheme in the second half and did put some points on the board...against what was described as a "tired defense." :headscratch:

As a FWIW, if we win this it'll mean we've won 14 of the last 22 meetings. That's right at .650.

Welcome aboard Razorback Rev. Look forward to some good banter back and forth the next few weeks.

Hearing the same things this year that I've heard from Arkansas fans the last two years I've read Terry's prediction of the Arkansas game. I'm loving how they're screaming that we only had so many sacks in the 09 game. Apparently they don't recall Mallet spending the majority of the time on his butt after throwing wild, desperate passes.

Thanks Jammer... I know a bit about Terry... Where is he hanging tonight, and thanks for the Avi. Info...

What's up Rev?!? :hyper:

You do know me well enough to know this is exactly what I've been saying for months now. In fact, I'd dare say we've had this same discussion what, a half of a dozen times? Or, at least skirted around it?

They punted seven times in the first half of that game. Why? Because Mallett didn't complete over 35% of his passes in that game. I looked at the recap just the other day for the umpteenth time...12 of 35, 160 yards, 1 and 1.

I just remembered the write up that year. It was Mallett or McElroy...something along those lines for a title. As it ended up, at the end of the day, it was McElroy. Greg put up Mallett type numbers that day. 291 I believe, only had six or seven incompletions with 3 and 0.

My head started hurting after reading half of the first page on that Arkansas forum....good lord. Those ppl are nuts, the few ppl that arent completely drinking the Petrino Kool Aid are getting destroyed and being called secret Alabama fans lmao they even called someone with the name "HogFan" a Bama fan lmao. they really think they're gonna beat the hell outta us...didnt they think that last year? and the year before? and the year before? and the year before that? lmao

Good Morning Alabama Fans. I definately think this thread has caused a lot of buzz around our neck of the woods, but thats alright because I enjoy a great football debate. While I don't think there is a better defensive coach in college football than Nick saban and I respect his 3-4 under more than any scheme we will have to face this year, I would like to point out that the 2009 Alabama Defense fielded 4 1st-2nd round NFL athletes in their front 7 and 2 off the front 3 of the D Line (Cody, Dareus, McClain, Arenas)

I honestly have nothing to brag about regarding my team because we haven't done anything lately with you guys. I won't come here and be rude but would love to have some friendly conversation leading up to the 24th. I will be rooting for you guys vs Penn St. this weekend.

Luckily for us this year it wont be Mallett vs McElroy; it will be Wilson vs McCarron.

Welcome aboard!

I'll recap some of the things I've said about this game. So, let's get this discussion running. Lord knows you guys aren't going to have anything to talk about the next two weekends.

Here's where I'm coming to the conclusion...

You are replacing two tackles. And, both guys are young.

As one example, it's hard enough to learn the left tackle position as a frosh when you just play the left side. But, that is compounded when you play a strong side / weak side rotation like Petrino does.

The weak point you have on your team—offensively—is at those tackle positions. By no means am I saying you don't have talent at both positions. Heck, I recall the reports on Brey Cook. He was a guy we offered and probably taken if we didn't have a few higher on our board. He's a heck of a tackle. BUT, he's young.

You won't get the opportunity to face one of the SEC type defensive lines until you visit Tuscaloosa. For that very reason, I don't see your first three games as giving your guys game type experience. It's that reason I feel this game could get ugly.

I'd love a close game. I just don't see it. Right now, I'd call the same thing as I am for the Penn State game this weekend. I'll take the line, and would almost be willing to take Bama -15.

Tell me why I'm wrong, will ya?
