🏈 Putting Ingram and Richardson in Motion

One thing that may improve our wildcat production would be to have Richardson or Ingram to go in motion instead Jones or Maze. Trying to defend both Ingram and Richardson at the same time would make it very difficult for opposing defenses to focus on any one back. Whoever goes in motion needs to get the ball more than they have so the defense will have to worry about more than the rb in the backfield. I have to believe that our coaches haven thought about this but for some reason do not think it is a good idea. Does anyone have a guess as to why this is the case?

Because that would get everybody super crunk! Im not gonna question the coaches but we need both of them in the same backfield early and often. We only have mark for a few more games and that is it. I wanna see the "Bunker Buster" formation. Ingram, TRich and Fowler. Talk about BDS getting crazy!

Yes, that is a very interesting idea. I think I like it.

I was talking about this a couple of weeks ago: Why not both Ingram and Richardson in the same backfield like the old wing-t, a double wildcat, where the center snaps BETWEEN them. It would depend on which direction and who was getting the ball as to who actually caught the snap. We ran this offense when I was a freshman in high school. Lot of fun. I'd love to see both of our backs in that formation.

Talk about crunk.

I don't know why we don't just break out the old pro-set, get them both back there and defense couldn't favor either side or key either runner. Run some counters as a mix up and make them D pay for trying to key a runner.

MI and TR ran the Wildcat together last season with TR in motion. The reason we don't do this more often is our coaches think it's more beneficial to alternate them to keep both fresh. However, in the FL game they were both on the field together for a few plays (MI motioned wide and TR shifted from Wing Back to RB). If we had a third back we felt better about then we might do it more often. Eddie's TO's and inconsistency are the causes for concern about playing him in crunch time.

remember what al borges did with cadillac and ronnie brown?

Exactly. There was an article about this in the Huntsville times this morning. I think the offensive staff has to come up with a better strategy for preventing the defense from keying on one back. I do not buy the excuse that the staff is trying to keep them fresh. What good did that do against SC? Having both backs in the game at the same time will be devastating to an opposing defense.

The obvious counter here is that keeping them fresh worked pretty well the previous 19 games.

The reasons we don't see more "creativity" is we have enough talent to beat people without having to get cute. The problem, we don't execute with poise and maturity. The players have yet to earn the coaches trust to call the plays. If your inconsistent in executing the normal plays then a coach isn't going to call a play that demands perfect execution by all 11. Everyone does realize we have yet to play anything close to a complete game?

I don't think having Ingram and Richardson in the backfield at the same time a few times in a game is going to cause them to get too tired. The coaches probably have a good reason for not doing it but I have not heard one.

They have been on the field together this season (FL).
