🏈 Punt Returns

I think I've seen TerryP say Richardson or Kirkpatrick could handle next year (maybe it wasnt him that said it, not sure). Julio did very well, he may not break many for 60-80 yard TDs (tho he could) but he'll def. get you 15-20 every time. Thing is do we want Julio on Punt Return, Kickoff Return, and Offense? I know Javy has been able to handle it but that is alot for a guy.

The only name that really excites me on this list is Maze. I think he's so fast and so small he could squeeze through a lot of holes undetected.

My comment sounds negative toward the other guys. I don't mean it that way. I really don't know what they have to offer. It's just a different place to be - not knowing who the return guy will be. Not knowing if he'll be a TD threat like Javy. Not knowing if he'll be a game changer like Javy. When we've had the same punt returner for 4 seasons it will be SO strange to not have #28 running it back.

From what I hear Corey Grant could fit the bill as a great returner. Not sure if Saban would put him out their over some of the guys we got. In all honesty, from what I saw during the South Carolina game I'd love to see Julio get the job.

We have a bunch of guys who can run fast and make you miss. But the real trick is how well do they field the ball? That is a talent that is pretty highly regarded, with a bunch of wild men running full speed at you, yelling for you to "drop it!"

It won't come down to who is fastest. It'll come down to who can secure the ball, and make good decisions as to when to catch, when to fair catch, when to let it go, and when to turn it on.

BJ Scott is a guy that I'm surprised has not found his way onto the field some way. Punt Returns may work for him.

That said, I recall that he can throw the ball with either arm and have been waiting for him to use that talent in some form.

He found his way last year but has been moved to defense this year and will take a red shirt. Although I like Julio's hands, I think we will have other options next year. In any case, I'm sure we will be pleased with whoever earns the spot.
