šŸˆ Players competing for larger roles

To help withstand the physical rigors of his position he’s gotten up to 185 pounds (last fall’s media guide listed him at 172), and Hanks wants to gain five more pounds by training camp so he can be a more complete player.

I knew he looked like he'd put on some mass, but didn't realize it was close to 15lbs.

I've been paying attention to Hanks' weight since he got on campus... I know that sounds weird. I always thought he had great hands and it became clear to me very early that he runs the crispest routes of any of our receivers... I don't think that will every change. Even in warmups he always stood out to me as having the best footwork. Only problem is he was under 170 as freshman.. which isn't necessarily a problem if your Maze's size, but Hanks had the frame to bulk up. I had also heard early on he was attacking the programs the coaches laid out for players. He has steadily been bulking up for a while now and is actually listed at 190 I believe on the roster. I'm excited to hear he wants to get more physical. If you didn't notice it last year, you will this year.... Hanks will get after a ball almost to the point of sacrificing his own health. Even if he knows he can't get to it, he'll get level making an effort. He's got a great work ethic and practices hard. Hope he can stay healthy this year, cause I think he's going to light it up.

From watching practice at the clinic, you can see that Hanks has added some weight and no doubt attacks the ball alot like a DB. He goes after it like it belongs to him. I think that last season he may have been a little timid due to his weight(or lack thereof). It does seem as though these guys are ready to assume a larger role in the offense.
