| LIFE Pictures of the day -- From the wild to the crazy to the beautiful.

That whole Moab area is really cool, visited June of 2017, only spent a day there.

Shiprock in New Mexico from 2017 from the same trip.

@planomateo, My brother and I traveled the highway that goes by Shiprock, I don't remember the hwy # though. We were also through that area in June 2017, we may have crossed paths somewhere down the line. As I look at my map, the hwy # looks to be 666. We saw Arches and Canyonlands in SE Utah. From there headed toward Cortez, Co. and Mesa Verde. Then S on 666 on our way to Albuquerque where we have family. We were on a 5 week whirlwind tour of the west and national parks. The prettiest and most odd interstate I have ever driven is I 70. Pretty from Denver driving west toward Glenwood Springs. Odd terrain but beautiful is I 70 E through Utah, from where it intersects with I 15, just most all the way to Green River is the most incredibly strange, oddly beautiful terrain, unmatched from any scenery I have ever seen along any hiway. It is really hard to keep your eyes on the road as you pass through the San Rafael Swell.

When we were in Moab, we camped at a campground in town. I have a roof top tent that's either on top of my vehicle or on a trailer that opens up in less than 5 mins. It was so damn hot, musta been 80 around 10pm or so, not to mention we got some crazy torrential downpour, which made it muggy.

I've driven 70 a few times to go skiing, but I've never have been past Silverthrone/Frisco area.

If you ever get a chance to visit Southern Colorado in the San Juans, it's awesome! Telluride is surrounded by mountains, if you're into 4x4'ing there are some amazing trails to ride. Ouray is a special place, I absolutely love it there.

My ride with the roof top tent (RTT) down in Big Bend << great place to visit.

@planomateo, I have been to Durango a couple of times. The first time in 02 I think, we rode the Durango - Silverton Narrow Gauge Train. We took the bus ride to Silverton and rode the train back to Durango. That was probably the coolest experience I have ever had. Breath taking for sure. On that same trip, we took an all day drive through Silverton, Ouray, Ridgeway, Placerville, down to Telluride, Stoner, Dolores and back to Durango. Yes I agree with you , Ouray and that whole area has very impressive scenery. We stayed one night in Durango in 2014, and the town had changed alot since 02, it was way more crowded than I had remembered.

I use Silverton and Ouray as basecamp and go wheeling in the San Juan's. It's awesome!

Love it up there, 14 hour drive from our place.
