I have a serious question and would like input. What pieces on offense are we missing thats preventing us from having an explosive Passing and Running attack like Oregon? There's no reason why we shouldn't have that ability...or is there?!

Every skill player is lightning quick.

QB has a hell of an arm, and very good speed.

They just run a different style of offense. They run an uptempo offense predicated on rhythm and speed--you guys run a slower, grind it out ball control type of game. If Bama were to run this kind of offense they'd need more athletic offensive lineman (meaning, able to keep up with the speed, move quickly, etc.), and more speed all around on offense.

Not to mention that their QB (Oregon's) had the game of his carreer ala Garcia vs. us AND UCLA couldnt complete a pass if there was no defense against them. Their O line is terrible at pass protection. Oregons D line looked really small but was eating UCLA up. UCLA couldnt deal with a little quickness from the D line. It was pretty pitiful to watch.

I have no idea how they were even in the same stadium with Texas regardless of the turnovers.

People talking about UCLA’s bad defense must not have noticed that Oregon is averaging over 50 a game this season. Don’t say it’s UCLA’s defense because Oregon has done this to EVERYBODY they have played this season. Have they played 7 defenses that can’t tackle?

I also don’t buy that they are faster or more athletic than Alabama on offense. A look at the recruiting rankings will show our offense has superior athletes.

It’s really all about the philosophy. They take chances and we don’t. Our QB’s #1 job is to not turn the ball over and give the game away. Their QB’s job is to put points on the board. History tells us that Oregon will eventually have a game where they turn the ball over 6 or 7 times and they lose to lower ranked opponent. That’s the risk you take with their type of offense. Our philosophy is that we are good enough to be conservative and we can grind it out against anybody. We don’t take any chances until we’re down in the second half, ala Arkansas.

They also have a mental advantage, they play with a feeling of invincibility....did anyone hear what their coach said at the start of the game? He was asked about the pressure of being #1...he said "pressure is what teams that don't know what they are doing feel and we know what we are doing".... He has them playing with a huge chip on their shoulders...

In a word, yes.

UCLA whose defense is ranked at #91, has one of the better defenses Oregon has faced this year. Everybody they’ve played has a very bad defense.

Statistically the best defense they’ve faced this year has been Arizona State ranked at #51. They’ve also played Washington state and New Mexico who’s defenses rank at #118 and #120 respectively. That would be two of the three worst teams in college football. Throw in UCLA, Tennessee and Stanford who rank at 91, 74 & 59 along with Portland State who ranks 8th to last in total defense in the FCS (former 1-AA) to round out their schedule so far.

I won’t take away their talent level, they are a good team, a very good team actually. But their offensive stats have been built running through a bunch of defensive cupcakes. They’ve won impressively, but they have played against teams that have outright awful defenses.

Maybe. How exactly has their offense been been challenged? Once they play someone without a defense that ranks better than the bottom half of the NCAA we'll have a better idea about what they can do. They are impressive offensively, no doubt, the best I've ever seen, right up there with Penn State in '94 - look into that team, they were unbelievable, the backups were typically in by the middle of the 3rd quarter. To this point, Oregon has done it by cranking up against really bad defenses. I'm not saying that they aren't going to tear it up all year, I'm just saying that judging their offensive greatness should probably wait until they hit a few tougher defenses.

This isn't exactly a vintage Trojan defense so the best they will face is Arizona. IMO their best chance to lose is the season ender at Oregon State.

Oregon is certainly benefitting from the same old thing that the PAC 10 has had a rep for, for years: no conference defensive talent. Seriously, only USC has had a real defense in that league over the years, and this year, they are awful. Their talent is on par with Oregon's, on offense, and may provide some challenge to them. I look forward to that game. But with Kiffin manning the controls, I've got Oregon by 2 td's. Only Arizona's defense stands in the way of an undefeated Oregon.

And let's not forget a HUGE point....No conference title game......They won't lose to Oregon State.

Oregon looks pretty damn good to me. I don't think our defense could do anything but slow them up some. I think they could still get 28 on us. Their defense is similar to Utah's back in 2008, and our linemen just have fits with these small, athletic defenses.

Personally, I think the SEC should be doing more conference-wide on both sides of the ball, to avoid becoming the big, slow league that the Big 10 (11) is right now.

I disagree with part of your statement on Bama's defense just slowing down Oregon. One hard, fast hit from Hightower (or any SEC linebacker) on a small QB like that, would have a huge impact on his ability to make split second decision much less scramble for 20.

Let me ask the question this way....In the SEC Title Game last year we were firing on all cylinders! How do we get back to being multi demensional? The media wants to say Alabama's high powered offense in every other sentence, and I agree we have a dream team of talent but it appears as though the entire offense is disinterested and would rather be on the sidelines having a hot dog and a coke! At least that is the way it appears on TV...maybe my TV is broken?!
