| FOOD On the way home this morning I got nauseated as soon as I passed Starbucks (Pumpkin season again.)

Yeah but you lose your "freedom" by not having to have a bunch of bills in your wallet. I can't imagine how free it must feel to lose said wallet or have it stolen and all those bills plus any cards you have be gone either... /s
Old message forum "vernacular" that's as lost on people today as it was when it first started.

Since you're injecting this into the thread, I'd say it's more privacy and choice. I like carrying cash in my pocket. It's usually a fraction of what the phone in my other pocket is worth. If you've had a lost or compromised credit or debit card, it's cancelled and you're out of luck until the replacement is in hand. The only exception was when I had some fraud on my Amex, once I confirmed the card was in my possession, they kept the card turned on for chip purchases only until the new card showed in two days. That was pretty refreshing compared to the kneejerk debit card vendors.

I use my Amex for many purchases, and I know that in exchange for the benefits I receive from using it, I'm leaving a trail. It's a choice I make, I'm not keen on being told.

I mean I get what your saying and if you want the choice to be able to use cash for whatever reason, more power to ya. Just as you have that same right private businesses have the right to decide what type of currency they accept, too.

I started this thread August 30th last year. Today is August 8th.

I'm told Krispy Kreme started their pumpkin shit yesterday.

It was too early on the 30th. Now, the 7th!

Yeah I use a card for most of my daily spending, but when you lose the choice of using/having cash it’s about control. It’s really no one’s business what you or me or anyone else spend there money on. I try to avoid “cashless” business even if I’m using a card. I know at one point it was illegal to not accept cash in debt/service based businesses. Not sure how all that really worked or works now.
