Ohio State is a team that will likely be #2 in the polls right behind Bama.

look at their non-conference schedule, unbelievable.

I can't imagine more of a cake walk, they have 2 tough game all season against Iowa and Penn State.

how can a team's schedule like this put them in the same class as other national championship contenders.

Hate them so badly but the Hurricanes are young, talented and they could be tough to beat, and remember the Buckeyes struggled a whole lot at the Horseshoe last year, just to say one game, Navy... but yeah, this is the real non-conference game they should be a bit concerned.

But for Miami, who could throw them a curve with presumable more team speed (traditional Brawn vs. Speed here), their first game worth watching is not until week 7 in mid September. They year is half over at that point.

Seriously, other than Miami, which team would be the biggest draw if this were an SEC team playing this schedule? Which SEC teams would not come out of that no worse that 5-1?

OSU has to be perfect in order to even have a shot at the title with this schedule. Truly, simply undefeated may not get it done.

Question: Undefeated OSU or a one loss SEC Champion; who would you fear as an opponent?

Good point. I would say PSU, Miami, Ohio, EMU, Duke, SJSU, Marshall, and GSU.

I agree.

Our OOC schedule is actually more of an embarrassment that is the one for THE Ohio State University. Which was the point in the opening posit.

But, when you consider the total schedule, we are WAAAAAAAAAAY out in front of TOSU.

Their two toughest games are Penn State (home) and (at) Iowa. Penn State would probably rate as our fifth or sixth toughest game (when game-site is factored in). Florida, at LSU, at Arkansas are all certainly more difficult. At Tennessee and perhaps Auburn would be in the discussion as more difficult.

My gosh the Big Teneleven is just pathetic once you pass TOSU, Penn State, and Iowa. And the latter two are not real threats to be Top Eight either.

Any D1A team that has Georgia State on their schedule doesn't need to talk about somebody elses non-conference schedule being to easy.

Look. I know we have some crap teams on our schedule, that is beyond debate, but the point of the thread is that Ohio State is going to be a team a lot of people will have #2 in the nation behind us, so we should be looking at them and their schedule and be prepared for the debate if and when we have a 1 loss SEC team and an undefeated OSU, who should go into the Title game?

Would you guys be afraid of playing Miami right now? seriously? Look what Wisconsin did to them.

That OOC schedule looks like most SEC teams' schedules. I'll bet right now that Miami finishes ranked higher than Penn St. PSU isn't going to be able to throw the ball. They may not break double digits on Bama.

OSU should and would go.

Don't know if I would even want Bama to be NC with a loss. We have to listen to all this grief for months with an undefeated team. And God FORBID that loss be to the barn. We would NEVER hear the end of it. That would be the greatest victory in their history.

Yes, agree on that scenario, the barn are so loosers that they would make fun of it as a real championship. Heck, it would be weird as hell... but remember LSU won a national championship not so long ago with two losses and the last one came the final week against Arkansas at their home field. Anyway, I'd prefer another loss somewhere else against lesser competition than going undefeated and being upset by the barn the final week at home. No doubt from that.

RTR,

While the GSU game is an abomination, the timing could not be better. The boogs have an off week and the Iron Bowl is another short week with Thanksgiving in the middle.

One game against Georgia State buried within an SEC schedule is nowhere near as bad as OSU's 50% off coupon of a schedule, as Bo seemed to suggest.

A discussion in my office centered around the question "Has the combination of that schedule and the lack of a Conference Championship Game already put OSU in a spot where they need help to get into the BCS title game?"

QUESTION: If there are is an Undefeated Boise State and Ohio State, as well as a one loss Texas and Alabama (both having won their Conference Championship Game), who goes to the BCS? We boiled this down to a referendem on the Conference Championship Games. If Texas and Bama don't get in, then it only hurts the Conference's shot at playing in. Already having a strength of schedule element, playing that extra game has to count for something, and the BCS title game is the only place left to reward teams for playing them.

ANSWER: This sort of depends. If Alabama/Texas had lost a nonconference game their chances would be hurt much more than if they had lost a conference game, and margin of victory would factor in. Boise St. would have to play really convincingly all year long but could find their way in, and Ohio State could get in if they win every game by a fingernail. Seeing as Boise State probably won't get past Virginia Tech, Bama and Texas would the most eligible canidates available to play the buckeyes. The game lost by either team and compared play in the second half of the season would determine the NCG bid.

just for ghits & siggles....i ran the simulation through EA NCAA 10 last night.

Ran the season 10 times. Bama repeats from last year 14 & 0.
and faces.......wait for it.......
Miami????? WTH? 7 out of 10.....bama goes 14 & 0. Of those 7.....they faced Miami 5 times in the BCS. of those 5 bama won by 7 or less.

Where was Ohio State? never finnished high than 4th. was beat out for the #3 spot by Penn State, Boise St, OK, and TCU of all schools.
go figure.
