Bama is probably about to find out why you have to go and take it in the final 2 or 3 weeks. A high 2 seed and a looming Supers matchup against the overall #1 or #2 would suck. But if it happens, I hope its Bama in Hattiesburg or Atlanta and then onto Vandy if they can make it that far.

HATTIESBURG REGIONAL PREVIEW

Southern Miss (44-14 RPI 19)
- Southern Miss is obviously an extremely talented team. Finished 2nd place in the SBC finishing 24-6. USM also had an 18 game winning streak going into yesterday. They also include a 7-5 Q1 record with a 67 SOS.

- Some bats to watch include, Jake Cook (CF) .350 average, Carson Paetow .275 average, 59 RBIs, 15HRs, Matthew Russo .289 average, 54 RBIs, 17HRs, Ozzie Pratt .321 average, 52 RBIs, & 8HRs and Nick Monistere .338 average, 68RBIs, & 19HRs

- Pitching USM brings out JB Middleton who has a 10-1 record, 2.01 ERA, & 114Ks one of the best pitchers in the nation. They also have Kros Sivley 7-1, 3.43 ERA, Colby Allen 6-4, 3.54 ERA, 73Ks, & Matt Adams 6-2, 3.93 ERA, & 77Ks.

Alabama (41-16 RPI 13)
- Alabama has been a solid team all year they have some great series wins including UGA. They also defeated Troy twice, CCU, & Southern Miss. They have a 15-12 Q1 record with a 20 SOS.

- Justin Lebron is must watch TV, .315 average, 18HRs, and 72RBIs. Other bats to watch include Kade Snell .366 average, 10HRs, 52RBIs, Will Hodo .281 average, 14HRs, 45RBIs, Richard Bonomolo Jr .320 average, 8 HRs, 50 RBIs, & Bryce Fowler .261 average, 6HRs, 41 RBIs.

- Riley Quick will be Alabama’s ace, 8-2 record, 3.54 ERA, and 64Ks. Zane Adams also 6-4, 5.54 ERA, and 62Ks can be elite at times. Braylon Myers 3-1, 2.48 ERA, and 57Ks is a guy that can come in and get you out quick. Carson Ozmer is one of the best bullpen/savers in the country. 4-1, 2.89 ERA, & 48Ks.

Miami (31-24 RPI 40)
- The Hurricanes are interesting when they are on they are really on. Toward the middle of ACC play they were rolling but they did drop some bad losses at the ACC play and a poor ACC tournament showing. They are 8-10 in Q1 but have the 11 SOS.

- Daniel Cuvet is one of the most fun players in the nation. .378 average, 16 HRs, 76RBIs. Jake Ogden also .350 average, 8 HRs, & 30 RBIs. Dorian Gonzalez Jr. also has 46 RBIs with 8 HRs. Fabio Peralta and Ogden lead team with 12 & 10 Stolen bases. When this offense is clicking it can be scary for opposing teams.

- Pitching has been Miami’s issue at some points in the season. Griffin Hugus 5-7, 4.22 ERA, & 85Ks has big time punch out ability. AJ Ciscar has been awesome as a Freshman 5-1 3.77 ERA, & 56Ks. Brian Walters when on can be good as well he has 52Ks.

Columbia (29-17 RPI 60)
- Sometime an Ivy League team can be a little intriguing I would consider Columbia interesting. They went 16-5 in their league & won conference tournament. On the other hand they are 1-9 in Q1 games with a 171 SOS. (They are 28-8 Q3-4.)

- Sam Miller has .347 average & 16 HRs on the season. Cole Fellows also bats .335 with 5HRs, and 39RBIs. Anton Lazits also leads the team with 9 SBs.

- Pitching wise Thomas Santana is their strikeout leader with a 5.43 ERA, 5-3, 59Ks. Alex Sotiropulos also has a 7.13 ERA, 4-3 record, 31Ks. The name to watch out of the pen is Thomas Lopez 2-0 record & 0.87 ERA.

Overall this should be a fun regional. The top 3 teams all have the firepower to win the regional. Pete Taylor park though it’s going to be rowdy this weekend. USM fans get after it. Weather shouldn’t be too hot so should be an incredible atmosphere. It will be a tough regional with three really solid teams.

Just noticed. No hosting teams from the Big 12.
I saw this on X and it started me thinking ...

The SEC has 13 in; highlighted by eight teams hosting regionals.

Three didn't get in and we've talked a few times about two of them. A&M, to start, with their pre-season #1 ranking and they are out: not even the first four out as I recall.

Mizzou hadn't won a game all season until the next to the last weekend of SEC where, get this, they swept A&M.

UofSC. Just weird. The worst season in that program's history.

A&M's season may be the most sane of all three.

I wouldn't want to be Florida.
If I saw one, I saw a half of a dozen media guys salivating over UF in this Coastal regional. I don't get that. I think the Chants are seriously underrated. We already know it's a solid program. They ran through the SB this season...I don't how many wins straight to close the season.
