Tried to start watching Mad Men on Netflix yesterday. Everybody I know loves it. I watch 4-5 episodes and never really got into it. Is the first season just really slow or something?

Wife and I watched the first season. It's really slow. Some people say the 2nd season and later isn't as slow, but we haven't tried.
