Lets face it....Boise is gonna run the damn table. Unless UN can kncok them off. It's have to be Nevada cause there's no one else on thier scehdule that can.

BYU has to face Utah....so that has upset potential.

Thus leaving the 3 SEC west schools.
Wich by natural selection will take care of themselvs.
AU stll has LSU. But that comes B4 we have either.
So we'll have to Eliminate both.
But as long as the ducks drop a game....our fat is back in out hands. Becuse if we can finish strong & run the table from here.....a 1 Loss SEC team will NOT get over looked forthe BCS.
Ou schedule vs Boise & TCU would be too strong. Then there's that Automatic bid.....

I'll be curious to see how kind the computers are to Boise and TCU, because if you throw the politicking and the whining out, there's absolutely no rational case to be made that these schools from these weak sister conferences should taken seriously in a NC race. IMO, neither should ever be ranked higher than fifth on principle alone. Of course, that ain't gonna happen and the media and the voters are going to do everything they can to manufacture the great BCS disaster for which they've been longing.

This is only going to get more and more aggravating as the weeks go on. Let's just keep winning.

Well, so much for that, Oregon fans. It took a matter of hours for the prospects of Oregon’s first No. 1 ranking in its history to come crashing down to earth. ESPN’s Brad Edwards projects Oklahoma, not Oregon or Boise State to be the country’s No. 1 team when the initial BCS rankings come out today. I know, I just saw it with my own eyes on SportsCenter.

I think - and I HOPE our coaching staff does, too - that we don't need to worry about the BCS rankings right now. Nothing we can do about them. The goal needs to be to win the next game - every week. That will take us to Atlanta. The rest will work itself out. We have a running game to work out and a boatload of injuries to overcome not to mention a leadership void on defense, a slumping QB, and three games in a row with no 100 yard rusher.

Yeah, I think we have more pressing issues to worry about than the current BCS rankings.

that's exactly what i was thinking Terry. We still control our own destiny here.
Strength of schedule ALONE should boost us up to number 2 by the computers....
if for no other reason than the bye weeks alone. I looked at them as a curse ever
since the schedule was put out. Now....as long as we finish strong it could be a blessing.

Let's suppose that 'Bama wins out, plays a two loss SEC East winner, & wins. Does the fact that a the SEC East has TWO losses (thus lower ranking) diminish the significance of the championship OR is it enough to leap an undefeated Boise St & TCU?

I never thought Bama would have to worry about UT for the next few seasons, but the way the offense looked last night this Saturday now has me a little worried. UT did manage to hold off Oregon for 2 quarters. Not to mention we've looked really off in away games and Neyland Stadium isn't exactly a quiet place for a struggling offense to try and find themselves in. Dunno, maybe I'm worried for nothing...anic:

I wouldn't say you're worried for nothing, it is a tough environment at Tennessee did hold their own against Oregon for the first half and went toe-to-toe with a "#6" LSU team. I don't think Bama will actually lose the game, not be a long shot, but if Tennessee has one of those Oregon (first half) or LSU type days it could be closer than most would like. Ultimately Bama walks out of Neyland a winner, it's just a matter of how much heartburn they will cause while doing so.

I don't think we make it this year. I didn't think we would going in though. Our secondary is just to young this year. I expected more of a pass rush than we are getting, but having Dareus hurt isn't helping at all.
The truth is I don't really see a dominant team out there. I do agree if we win out we'll be there, but I see us losing 1 more game. I do hope I'm wrong. Now next year with some of the these guys with a year under their belts I say all bets are off.

I'm with you tidenumber1. Mathematically, we could make it in if we win out, but I believe that is the biggest IF in college football. Nothing Boise or TCU can do can help them. Winning out is assumed at this point for those two. Oregon and OK are in the catbird's seat, and all they have to do is meet expectations, and they are in. I don't even think Auburn can get in if they win out. I actually think that's a bit unfair to them, because they are doing what they can, and they might possibly have a heisman winner at QB. That team is impressive. I can't see LSU beating them, but I don't think Alabama can go to LSU and win. We just aren't the team we were last year.

The SEC West is the conference's only hope, and it's distant. The one team that could have gotten to Tempe without any help was Bama, and we blew up against South Carolina. The other two teams in the mix both started waaaaayyy too far down the polls to make it back up.

However, I believe in 2008, Bama started down in the 20's, and we got all the way to #2 before losing to Florida (AP, don't remember where we were in the BCS that year).

The SEC east isn't even worth considering...

In other words there would have to be a lot of one-loss major conference teams. Even then he said those teams could feasibly jump Boise State. Looking at the BCS rankings it APPEARS that if we beat LSU Saturday we will leapfrog Oregon for the #2 spot in the BCS. SOS will help Auburn's cause. If we beat LSU that would leave us having beaten three (at the time) top 15 teams so far this year. If that doesn't do it, IF (big IF) we beat Alabama AND Bama comes into the game undefeated I don't see a way they couldn't put Auburn ahead of Oregon. Mathematically, it seems inevitable for us to be worse than 2nd if we win this week. But, as we all know, logic does not always win out when it comes to polls. If Auburn is able to get by LSU Saturday, which they should be able to with it being at home, offense is firing on all cylinders (well, Cam is anyway) if our defense can just get us one or two turnovers (preferably one that isn't gifted by the ref) we should be OK. The way our defense is playing, I'm more concerned about you guys than LSU. The running game doesn't concern me as much as the passing game. You have to think GMac will break out of his slump sooner or later. You have Jones who is big and absolutely murdered us last year on the slants/picks (not being negative or saying it should've been a flag--using same terminology as the announcers and by and large, it is legal) those little quick receivers you have scare the hell out of me.

As for Exiled's concerns about going to LSU--I'm on the fence. They have a NASTY defense, but is it because they haven't really been tested? Your offense will eventually find its stroke again at some point. Will you guys be as dominant as you seemed to be early? Possibly--it depends on the playcalling. If you continue calling the same set of plays, not a chance. Teams will continue to eat McElroy alive and when you line up in an obvious run formation, you'll face a nine man front. I'm not sure LSU's defense is as good as advertised and I'm not sure your offense is as bad as it has seemed lately. The fact that it is in Tiger Stadium would be an obvious concern. They will be coming off either a huge win over us or a devastating loss--either way, their mindset may not be what it needs to be to pull off that kind of win. Your secondary continues to struggle but LSU doesn't have a legitimate QB, or at least not a legit full-time QB. Lee tends to do better managing scoring drives, Jefferson is for some reason the current starter. It would be a game I'd hate to bet on but since I have ZERO money involved, I'd pick Bama. I think LSU is by far the most overrated team in the country. They have struggled in every game, McNeese State included. The fact that a one-loss Bama team was ranked ahead of them for a week should be very telling. You're undefeated in the SEC and a one-loss SEC team STILL garners more respect than you. You're a winner, Les!
