He's hitting on one portion of my opinion on Frost. While Frost said "it was a budget concern" which did mirror what the Nebraska AD had mentioned about their program he tried to cancel that game without the knowledge or approval of the AD.
Here's where I say he's overblown. When he was down at UCF he was sitting in the middle of a recruiting hotbed able to take those three star type Florida athletes and then take those athletes to compete against your AAC level opponents. You can win, as we saw, with that caliber of talent in that type of conference. (Watch the same thing happen with Gus.)
However, taking him out of that level of competition and putting him in the Nebraska situation shows he can't take that level of athlete and win in a conference like the B1G, or Big 12 for that matter. Small fish in a big pond, so to speak.
Here's something that can't be ignored: holding illegal practices and workouts and you're posting a 3-5 recordāit's no wonder Alberts wants him out (which is widely rumored.)
Well, Frost today said he never tried to get out of the OU game despite McMurphy's multiple sources detailing how Frost and his Head of Ops (and best buddy) went behind the AD's back to try and get out of the OU game. So Frost has talked out of both sides of his mouth.
Completely agree on his UCF tenure. O'Leary was 12-2 just 2 years before Frost, winning a BCS bowl by beating an elite Baylor team. UCF has always been able to win tons of games in that conference and you don't have to be able to really recruit and can fall ass backwards into the most talent in the AAC as head coach at UCF.
Gus is going to do great there, as he's way better than Frost.
