🏈 NCAA looking further into textbook scandal

If sombody of my limited ability could see that Moore needed to fired some 10 years ago!!!!!

Moore is clearly to powerful to be fired or else it would have been done somewhere around goof up #323 (to use a Bryant number)

Ive been banging the fire Moore drum forever! Shula was a sidetrack in that I had to aim the crosshairs at him for awhile

Im back though with Malfunction in my sights! Fire him a decade ago already!

I knew this would be enough to draw you out during the offseason. :D

Just declare MM our AD emeritus and relieve him of any responsibility of any kind. Like Alagator I have been convinced for a long time that the reason we were hammered the last go around was Mal's long time friendship and association with Logan Young.

My comments...

Moore hired Chris King, at the time a very young and relatively inexperienced compliance 'expert' from Central Florida. At the time King was hired, many expressed some concerns over his youth and lack of longitudinal experience with the NCAA. We have seen a number of times now where King was NOT up to the task.

...redacted...

Okay, getting ready for my play date on a certain course we discussed last week. Will give you an update Monday on how it overwhelmed my game (we have decided to play once from the tournament tees - that will not be 'purdy and triple digits would not surprise me).

:D

One of the reasons I mentioned in my reply that I knew what you were coming with - or perhaps where you were coming from is a better way to say it - leads to the redaction.

Space. Yeah, that does as well.

My issues with Chris King have to do with what I've witnessed personally. And, to put it mildly, it had to do with him taking things to a level I didn't think were warranted.

Nice guy. But, not one that was ready for the job. That'll I agree with. In fact, he's a lot like Gottfried in a manner of speaking. The job became his personality...along the lines of "look at who I am and what I'm saying you need to do because...look at who I am."

I'm really looking forward to your report about your golf outing! But, from the tips?!?!

I hope you have your new driver. Heck, if not, you'll be looking at 3m, 3m, and a low iron on #8. :D Don't feel bad if your tee shot on 8 makes it as far as the green on #2 if you are still carrying that club.

I've been around it twice...and look forward to getting another shot.

TV just doesn't do the course justly...it's NOTHING like what you see when you get there...NOTHING.

I think he's been around it 3X more than me...maybe his 7th round there?

I guess we need a golf forum? :D We had a good time bitchin' about the course they played the WGC...

I was out in Vegas for the Match Play. Hit 5 of 6 matches I bet on! :D

Ive been to Augusta prob 10 or 12 times for the Tourn but never gotten close to playing

How hilly EVERY hole is what TV doesnt do justice (along with just the sheer beauty)

Im interested in the clubhouse area... food, how youre pampered, ect.. DO they even charge you a monetary amount?

Sorry for the thread hijack we have caused

I haven't been in the cabin, he has. The locker room was impressive to me. Especially thinking about what that must be like even on practice days...much less tournament days.

Hilly? Oh Yeah. I was shocked at how wide open it was the first time I played...I can see it now on TV, but it never really dawned on me just on TV coverage.

Even just watching the tourney live you get another impression of it when you see in on TV...literally, a different world.

Hell, I caught my breath just driving in...

Since the football program was "punished" in 2007 in the form of suspended players, is there any way the NCAA only punishes the others sports where players committed violations? Or, does the University and all programs get punished as a whole?

I don't know much about this stuff, so I apologize if this is a stupid question.

Yes.

Just as example, we may see the track team (women) lose recruiting visits but the football team doesn't. We may see loss of scholarships on one team, but not on another.

HOWEVER, as proved with the NCAA, if one team is put on probation is has an effect on the entire Athletic Department. If you recall, the basketball violations extended the probation window when it was the football team that was placed on probation.

I appreciate it. Also,(SIAP) but is there any sort of timetable on when the NCAA may make any kind of ruling on this?

At the earliest, we might hear something by early April.

Normally, the NCAA will tell you a couple of weeks and it end up a couple of months.

Personally, I expect we'll know what their response is by the end of May.

That said, if we don't agree with the response and choose to appeal it...

I have a question as well for those of you who know the NCAA a little better than I do...

What do you think the chances are that we'll get any form of punishment? I mean, is it inevitable or is this whole investigation just being blown out of proportion?

Nah, I don't think much will happen personally. I mean, all the media coverage here lately and in the future has been/will be great, if they bust us for something that in the grandscheme of things is trivial(no money exchanged, no edge gained on competition) while leaving other serious cases it has had for several years pending, there will be hell to pay as far as PR. Itd look to biased for them not to get a media based beating honestly.

But eh, the proposition of more NCAA probation is scary indeed.

One thing you have to consider in respect to the articles you are going to see published.

Several newspapers requested information via the Freedom of Information Act. Those requests started just after this incident back in 2007.

Up until now, the University has received those requests, but basically didn't respond to them when they could have.

As example, they could have released the information about the letter of inquiry when it arrived. But, chose not to do so.

The media doesn't like that and I can understand why.

I have a relative that works in the clubhouse. Didn't know this until a couple of years ago. Got the invite this year. Not sure that I can make the dates yet but it is one of the things I have on "The Bucket List". :)
