📝 NATIONAL SIGNING DAY: 2017

I guess whatever is in the wind today might carry an extra degree of certainty.
And yet, two of the people that were "anxious" about Ruggs a few hours ago are now saying they, maybe, have misread the situation.

I'm reminded of a date where the girl can't figure out what she wants to wear--a black scarf or one that's charcoal gray. I guess some might say, "primadonna?" @TUSKstuff

not much drama expected in T'town tomorrow.
Today is always the day for the most drama where fans are concerned. I've always found it amusing and some days have been down right hilarious. Do you remember when Meyer spent all day with Trent? Geez, when that dead period hit I'd swear a couple of thousand Bama fans went prematurely gray.

A few days ago @TUSKstuff and I were discussing the "primadonna" bit, right? I believe now, more so than ever, these guys (a lot of those that cover recruiting) create the majority of the angst seen in fans. And, like I've said quite a few times, these kids feed on it and it creates what we're seeing today. Mediums like Twitter certainly feed the frenzy. Yesterday Mathis, Solomon, and Ray were all tweeting each other giving a lot the sense they'll play together. To me, it just appeared as some kids having a bit of fun at the recruitniks expense.

As example: There's not a thing that's changed with Mathis in the last couple of days but ...

That's nothing more than a pitch for subscriptions, period.

When you're reading tea leaves, you take a good look at everything. YawYaw is getting into his billboard routine again. This year he's apparently going to put up his welcome billboards everywhere his recruits are from.

SEC Country - LSU Billboards

As you mentioned earlier, the time is just about up with this cryptic dance these recruits do and with Mathis, we're about 4 hours from putting away our decoder ring.

He did last year as well. Check this out though.

BATON ROUGE – LSU will once again unveil and promote its 2017 football signees on billboards in areas across Louisiana and other key cities in the region to celebrate National Signing Day, which takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
If a school can't publically comment on a recruit until they've signed when can these billboards be put up? I'm assuming tomorrow at the earliest.

Now ...

According to a tweet from the school’s football account, the billboards will run through Feb. 5.
So, four, five days at the max (unless no one buys that space.) Seems like a waste of money to me. If some of these only run for four or five days what kind of reach are they really getting for upcoming classes?

**Just as a side note: Bama has placed billboards in other cities as well. I recall back in 2013 there were several around Houston. The difference between UA's billboards and LSU's? Alabama was promoting successful Alumni, not some kid that just signed a letter of intent.**

I would think O would be playing with dynamite if any billboard, with the recruits face on it, went up before the announcement. It's good their state's not going through a financial crisis.

A lot of butt hurt there on what Alabama has been able to do this year in recruiting the state of Louisiana.
Alabama, hell. There's a good chance they'll only be able to hang on to two of their top 10 (247 Composite) this recruiting cycle. GT, MSU, Clemson, and for gods sake Florida is pulling kids out of their top 10. If Bama lands Harris, we're looking at Bama getting four of the top five.

Remember, this is coming on the heels of all the LSU people talking about the Big5 they were supposed to land a few years ago that included guys like Speedy Noil, Cam, and Hootie. If I recall correctly, they only landed one, maybe two, of the five they considered "locks."
