šŸ€ Nate Oats said Derrion Reid's hamstring flared up again after the Auburn game and he's getting an MRI, he didn't practice yesterday or today.

I wish they would sit him until he is 100%. Yes, we miss his presence on the floor but it’s next man up.

Agree. It goes against Oats' DNA to think like that, but it's the smart play. He's not going to make a big enough impact one way or another in these remaining regular season games for the risk to be worth it. And he damn sure isn't worth risking in the SEC Tournament if he isn't absolutely 100% by then, which is unlikely.

If he isn’t knocking the rust off by SEC tournament, he will unlikely be of little help in NCAA tournament. ( Maybe play a few minutes of defense and save a few fouls on Mo D & Cliff).

IMO, they can keep some of the rust off in a more controlled situation like practices than in the games. WIthout knowing how bad it is hurt, it's just throwing darts at the speculation board, but I would not be thrilled if he works his way back only to have a bad setback in the SECT, which in the grand scheme of things is petty worthless. That's my main concern.

There is no way he can duplicate the pace needed to participate in CNO’S practices. A hamstring takes awhile to heal and it will not if he is running up and down the floor. Put him on a stationary bike, alternate heat and ice on the hamstring and hope he can give us minutes in the SEC tournament or maybe the last couple of regular season games. Just my medical opinion but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express twice a year for 10 years in Hendersonville, Tn. šŸ™ƒ

Assuming you're saying "in view of March?"
I'm of a bit of a different opinion and I'm beginning to see this as the "Catch-22" for this season.

On offense, they need to have another dribble/drive guy. Only one to speak of and he's a year away. I believe they definitely need the second ball handler on the court.

HOWEVER ...

On defense, the weakest link is found with those guys. Holloway (which should be next year's Sears with the dribble/drive and the option referred to earlier,) is probably the worst of the group on defense. Philon has been pretty solid on defense. I don't see the same from CY. He's a big guy for the role and I tend to think that masks some average athleticism.

I'm saying if the injury is as bad as rumored and he needs rest, his impact on these remaining few SEC games isn't likely to move the needle much (from a L's to a W's). I lean, get him as healthy as possible, preferably 100%, and bring him back after the SECT. Again, assuming the hamstring issue is as bad as it appears.
