🏈 McClain and Hightower

Does anyone think that by Hightower missing the season it makes McClain want to come back for his senior year. It seems like they are pretty close.

While its nice to think this and it could happen I just cant see McClain not opting for the draft considering he will be a first rounder. I guess one could also look at it like he sees his friend get hurt and the realization that it can be over with just one play sets in and he leaves without second thought.

I don't know of an case where a player returned for one person, so I would say not likely as as you stated. That said, some players love the college football game, their coaches, their team mates...enough to return. Peyton Manning is one case that comes to mind. So there is hope, but not in Hightower alone I suspect.

But great thought though.

While I'm sure the agents and "money" folks will let McClain know how much he is worth at the end of the season. He did state at SEC media days that he would come back for his senior season. Granted that was this past August and a lot can change.......but only time will tell.

With the potential changes int he collective bargaining agreement on the horizon for the NFL, this might be the last year for a long time for first rounders to get paid SERIOUS coin before ever proving themselves on the field at the next level. Any player who is projected to go first round and decides to stay may cost themselves millions...

Well Mt. Cody came back, so who knows. I am sure Saban will inform him what is best for his future. I think Cody coming back was the right thing for his own situation, but IMO I think McClain should opt out early.

Here is the quote.

McCLAIN TALKS NFL: Minutes after telling an ESPN reporter that he planned to be back for his senior season, Alabama's All-American junior linebacker Rolando McClain hedged into saying, "I haven't even thought about it, really."
"That's not something I really worry about," McClain said. "I've got to get through this season, and when that comes, I'll sit down with Coach Saban and my family. If he thinks it's best for me to go out, all right. But if not, OK. Right now, I'm focused on trying to get better for my team and making my team better so we can win an SEC championship."

I sort of have to go with Crimsonaudio on this. The potential change in NFL pay could make his decision to leave easier. He is already projected as the top LB to come out in the draft by ESPN and other experts. It would be extremely difficult to turn down millions of guaranteed money for having not proven anything on the field yet at the NFL level.

Bingo.
