šŸˆ Anyone seen this?

You can bet the officials are really going to be looking to pull their yellow hankeys, now...The officials are going to give an in your face response to this..They are pissed..

I think the accountability is refreshing as long as A) The SEC stays the course and continues to do so fairly. And B) Each future case is handled properly and isn’t a knee jerk reaction to a single bad game or single bad call. And suspensions and punishments aren’t driven by a single school, but rather the league. But there needs to be more accountability and this seems to be the start. Though as mentioned, auburn having their hand in the middle of it gives it a bit of a rancid smell.

Yeah... but there is no excuse why they allowed that referee to make a colossal mistake in the game and let it stick... that referee probably stuck with his guns because he did not want to look indecisive, in front of the world.. He should've just said he didn't know and defer the decision (if he could)...Also, He should have been overruled on the spot by the HQ.. NO MORE of the status quo, "Indisputable evidence thing" that never works..
I believe a lot of these refs are going to be very bitter and find some way to act up about this situation... who knows they might stage a work stoppage or something.... maybe they won't...but you got to think they're going to show some kind of solidarity, with the punished ref..

Couldn’t agree more. Accountability is priority one!

What call are you talking about?

I think you are putting way too much weight into what the other crews think or care about any of this. The message to them is, do the job to the best of you abilities. Accountability of officials, umpires, referees. etc. has been an thing for years, usually only hampered by unions. Normally, the public just doesn't know about it.

You have to wonder if referees and officials are a tight knit fraternity type organization or group... do they have a union?.. do they stick together.. does anyone know?.. I have no problem with accountability... i'm just wondering if these guys are going to do something about this guy getting hung out to dry... I thought that the whole premise of his suspension was making controversial or bad calls... because if it was, they need to have a mechanism to make sure that games are not won/lost by bad calls or mistakes.. It should've never come to that with all of this modern technology we have... maybe nothing will come up, but I'm just thinking out loud here... I know how tight knit groups act out when they feel wronged about something.. It's the new American Way these days...

No, college officials are not unionized, I was talking as a whole, across college and pro in that example, like with NFL officials and MLB umpires... they are unionized. So that has caused issues in the past with accountability on those levels.

These college officials aren't going to go rogue and ruin their officiating careers over something so trivial.

All SEC games are reviewed and graded by the league office and the coordinator of officials. Individual officials and entre crews have been punished before, it isn't something knew. Again, it's just something the public rarely finds out about it since the SEC doesn't put out press releases on it. In this particular case, someone (likely from auburn's end) leaked the info to YHN and they reported on it.

This is insane.

Ken is a very good Referee and has been for a very long time.

I’ve commented on the Ga/Auburn game and no, the crew did not have a very good game. It happens to officials, just as it happens to coaches and players. I look forward to the day an AD suspends his coach for, in a single game, poor clock management, allowing players to feign injury, bad play calls, etc. Or let’s permanently bench a QB for throwing a game ending interception regardless of his past performance.

If this is solely based on that one game, then shame on everyone involved. It’s yet another reason why Conferences should not oversee officiating and will forever be a dark stain on college football.

After watching games last night and today it appears the refs are already chosen to call the most ridiculous "roughing the passer" penalties they can.. our defenders better not even accidentally bump into Sellers today...
